***it is a good idea to remove the fresh food from the cage after about 2-3 hrs or sooner****
Thanks for the tip, but the food isn't sitting around for long periods of time. They boys don't eat a lot of it at once. They have pellets available all day, but only an ice cube sized beak appetit split between the 2 of them in a small dish
They eat a little oatmeal with sweet potato, or unsweetened applesauce for breakfast. The beak appetit is lunch, and then a different type of beak appetit for dinner when I get home. These guys eat better than I do
Started giving it to them on my days off, so I know they chow down on it pretty quick (it's the quietest part of the day here..when they are eating heheh).

Deb my quaker Harley wouldn't touch carrots for the longest until one day I was eating a salad and there were some grated carrots in it...I took a few out and rinsed them off real well and gave them to him...Wow, he down them in no time and wanted more...So I discovered he prefers carrots grated...

Trying to figure these little guys out sometimes is a pain in the ****.......

omg Julie.. thank you so much for posting this!
I had totally given up on the boys eating fresh veggies, but this reminded me of the day I was eating a salad that had grated carrots in it. I had forgotten about that!
Raven and Yogi both liked it.. Broccoli slaw

whoohoo.. bless your grated carrots Julie
I will have to pop into the grocery store tomorrow and grab more. I actually liked it too, so the last one didn't go to waste hehe.

I have tried carrots.....every which way. Nothing works. Hey, at least you got them eating beak apetit. Maxie will not eat 2 of them.
Raven the wonder tiel wouldn't eat any of it. Then he saw Yogi chowing down, and that was all it took to change his mind. Can't be left out of anything that lad lol.
neither of them like the bigger chunks of nuts in the "nuts for alfredo" one though. They usually toss those out to the dog

ignore it? - oh no - he picks up the plate of food and throws the whole thing into the floor.

that's hilarious. Sounds like Willie is a bird who knows what he wants, and won't settle for less
I'm glad the boys share their's with the dog instead of just flinging the dish. The dog waits patiently in front of the cages, so she'd end up with a concussion if Willie was over for dinner rofl.

Same here! If they are in little chunks Casey will play with them then drop them on the ground, but shreaded she will actually eat them! Funny fids...

Ok.. seems like shredded is definitely the way to go next
Sheesh.. if my husband ever realizes how much time and thought goes into the boys mealtimes, he is going to be jealous. If he said can you grate my carrots, I would probably hand him the shredder
Well I mean honestly..it's not like the boys are big enough, or old enough to use a shredder right
