Just thought I'd up date you guys on my little gouldian baby...

Its about 3 weeks old now and it won't be too long till it is ready to fledge. Look at the difference now. than from just a week ago...

His (its) beak is black but as it gets older will turn bone colored and then depending on what color it turns out to be will determine what color the tip of its beak will be. Its color will stay this way till its first molt when its adult colors will show...then I'll be able to tell if its male or female...

Notice that the little irredescent spots on the sides of its beak are becoming less predominent

WOW I've never seen baby finches. He is getting to be a cutie now.

I would say that he looks alot cuter now than when he was born. Then he looked like some alien thing.

I never could figure out where that little finch's beak was with all those lights around his mouth.... Oh goodness, poor baby...Now he is looking like a pretty baby....

awwwwwww he is growing up!!! I hate that they grow up so quickly. I swear, one minute they are so tiny, the next minute they are big and full of attitude

To be perfectly honest...I don't know the answer to the question about the irredescent spots. We'll be learning this together....I just know the adults no longer have them...Should be interesting to see when they fade away or what happens to them. But you can bet I'll keep you posted!

Carrie it doesn't have a name yet because I don't know what sex it is yet. Probably won't know for another 6 months....lol....
