Well after just petting Nugget yesterday and today and trying to get him to step up..I just decided to gently pick him up off the perch (he squawked a little but didn't bite) and then held him againist me and petted his head. Then I let him go and get climbed up and sat on my shoulder. He cuddled and gave me a few kisses and bobbed his head up and down a lot..is this a Macaw thing?? It was too cute! wub.gif He did fly off my shoulder and flutter down once when my daughter knocked on the door but I held down my hand and told him to step up and he did. laugh.gif

I tried to have my daughter pet him when on my shoulder but he gave that I don't like what your doing squawk and I told her you better not.

Before I did this the old man tried to pet him while in his cage but he wasn't having it. But he did take a yogurt covered pretzel from him (the ones that come in the bird mix..not the sugary human ones).

So we are making progress. I think we're gonna be good friends! wink.gif

Nice to hear you and Nugget are making progress.

Don't let him become a one person bird though. The other members of the family have to get involved too...when the time comes. wink.gif

Yea I totally agree...I want him to love everyone. So having the hubby give him a treat is a start and I'll have my daughter do the same. That's how I started...then eventually he let me pet him.

My guys do the head bob too, mostly when excited smile.gif Maybe it is a macaw thing...
