Lucy rubs her beak on her cage, perches, me, toys, her foot..
is this something unusual? Is there anything I need to worry about with this?
Casey's Mom
I'm pretty sure you need to worry, but I am not an expert! laugh.gif

Casey rubs her beak a lot, but usually it's because she is trying to clean it. smile.gif Casey will rub her beak on the top of her cage, on her perches, and me... like you said and it sounds normal.

Does she do it a lot after she eats and her beak could be dirty? unsure.gif

Others should be around soon... smile.gif

I think Caseysmom meant you DON'T need to worry.

Birds have a lot of nerve endings in their beak and they use it for tactile purposes, as well as a 3rd hand etc. Rubbing can be a sign of aggression, it can be a sign of wanting to mate it can be a sign of just needing to be trimmed/worn down... If he's a young bird its more just learning what different things feel like most likely...I wouldn't worry about it unless he starts wearing grooves or flat spots in his beak.

Georgie cracks my son up rubbing her beak on everything. He just laughs at her....which gets her started.

Dilly has done that many times and it's usually right after he has had soft foods he is trying to get off his beak .
BradysMama
Yea I was gonna say it's probably due to food on the beak. That's when i see Brady doing it the most.

Milo does it all the time when I have him come out to play I've seen him rub his beak on his cage, new toys, etc.. and when he does it on me I laugh cause it tickles so now he says "tickle tickle" and then laughs when he does it...silly fids laugh.gif
