Hi everyone! I'm a new member and have welcomed a new member to my home, in the form of a Quaker parrot. He is a sweetie! smile.gif I acquired him by way of a gal who had to give him up for health reasons. He is 11 years old and she has had him for most of those 11 years. My question is this: he almost appears to be 'chewing his cud' at times. I'll notice this white stuff all over the outside of his beak, and he'll be wiping his beak all along the outside of his cage. It's almost like he has reflux. Is this normal? Is it a stress reaction? I have had him for four days. He seems to be adjusting real well, otherwise. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Is he spitting up stuff, could be what they call feeding, someone will be along to explane that fully if that is what it is, it just that he could be showing you what a good parent he could be by fweeding the things he likes like his cage bars etc.

The chewing his cud action can be a sign of contentment but in re to the white stuff does his breath smell? If there is also an odor to his breath he might have a yeast infection.
