hi, all been reading pass breeding topics, so i dicided to ask the question, i have a pair of proven breeders, (pickles, and piper,) they have had their nest box up for 2 months, and they go in and out, but still no eggs, i can hear what i think is breeding, Im in s.c. so its fairly warm here, they have light, from a large corner window,,,pickles talks, and is somewhat friendly with me, piper is skitish,,,i feed them both veg, and seeds, they have a bathing dish, what am i doing wrong.....i keep reading they should lay about a week after mating,,,,but still no eggs....thanks for any answers,,,,vickie

MY QUAKERS HAD BEEN MATING FOR A MONTH BEFORE i GOT A EGG WHEN i WAS ABOUT TO GIVE UP ALL OF A SUDDEN THERE IT WAS!

Just because they have a box, doesn't mean too much...they are seasonal/conditional breeders. It is still very early in the breeding season for quakers.

i think the time for laying is getting closer, i have nesting materials in the box, but i layed a small hand full of hay in the cage a month ago. so they could have nesting matterial to add if they wanted, this morning when i checked the nest box they have moved some of the hay to it,,,,so maybe soon some eggs,,,,,thanks for the answers...vickie
