biggrin.gif Well, I just adopted my first FID... a Quaker.... she is a plucker. Yes, I've had her checked out... she is not ill. Thank Goodness. I have had no experience besides parakeets (budggies) and zebra finches. She is a sweetie - I've decided to name her Jinny (her given name too close to my roomate's and thus had to be changed). She is about a year old, loves to be petted, stays on the shoulder quite well and LOVES her bath times. She seems to ignore her toys... I am trying to get her involved but she seems to ignore or be fearful of all attempts. But i'm in love none the less. I welcome all advise... she is awsome. wub.gif
The rest of my family is 4 cats, Spookey, Vanyel, Mushi and Turnip (she just turned up at my door-step). I also have a blue heeler / wirehair terrier cross ( blue heeler markings and wirehair wiskers wink.gif ) named Utopia (she was a rescue and already named) about 10 mo. old.
About myself 37, single, male. I work in a call-center. I have about half an acre of garden that I garden and have a booth at the farmer's market. I sell the produce I grow as well as the semi- precious gem jewlery I make. my FLF (four legged Family) and New addition FID are precious to me. Hope to hear from you.

Welcome vanyel, Jinny and all the other fids!!!

She'll probably get interested in playing with the toys if she sees you playing with them first. First "play" with one at a distance and when you see her getting "nosey", gradually move closer to her. Make a big deal out of how much fun you're having. I think they figure if anyone is going to have fun, it should be them. biggrin.gif

Again, welcome; just join right in and make yourself at home around here.

Welcome! Try straws, cut them to about 4 in. at first and Give him about 3 - 4 in of a shoelace with the tip, mine loves these. These are less scary than the big toys. play with them, hold them in your mouth. He'll get the idea. Good luck and yes this site gets addicting because we love these little guys so much.
