blink.gif Buttons has been doing this really weird thing for the last two day (I just noticed it yesterday). I can ask her a question and she nods her head up and down deliberately and it's cute as heck. But lately, when she's climbing around or just perching and I'm watching her, she has head "shivers". Her head bobs up and down in quick succession several times. They aren't actual nods, just up and down jerks. I called my avian vet and he suggested that she's courting me but wanted me to get on the forum and ask you all if you'd seen it before. He says a forum like this is usually an excellent source of info (duh). So has anyone else been seing this in their female? She's not rubbing her vent on anything or acting sexually overt in any way...just this weird thing. I pick her up and let her sit with me and she won't do it. It's just on/in her cage. Also, tonight I played with Cooper first and the whole time I held him she was VERY agitated. She climbed all over her cage, did the head shivers, made quick, agitated movements etc. I just don't want her to have seizures and not do anything about it. She doesn't act sick at all. Her droppings are normal, her eyes are bright and she's active and eating and drinking. Any help for me and Buttons would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Sounds normal to me. How old is your quaker? Some times it is a kind of reverse feeding response, that later turns into regurgitation.

She's just over a year old... she's too old to revert isn't she?

mine is 3 years old and he still 'quakes' when he sees me eating something or is excited/happy.

Both of our quakers do the head bob thing where it doesn't appear to be for any reason, they just make their head move up and down. Its like they stretch their neck and then pull it back down real quick over and over again. They are 1 year and 1.5 years old. Sometimes there's a sound associated with the movement.

only my stressed qp does this. and he does it quite often...happy, or excited seems to trigger it. and it only seems to upset him more if I mimick it to him! poor baby....he only loves his mama so I try to be very careful with him....
