I am just wondering what the quaker mating behaviour is like. I Suspect my 2 yr old male quaker of it but im just wanting to be certain. He just goes all fluffy with me and starts sticking his tounge out and stepping from finger to finger. is this it? I discourage him whenever he does he and he has been very grumpy at m lately.

ps- is there anyway of getting him to be less obsesive about me? He screams non-stop unless im beside him. I have tried scolding ignoring paying attension to him only when quiet and time outs. I also bought a baby female but he is friendly with her but not phased. Is it a mating thing.. will it pass? He is also very jelous and possesive of me.

so if your bird is doing that does it mean that is definately a boy bird? just curious since this is what my baby tries to do with me LOL!

My boy is almost 7 months old, and he does everything you describe except sticking his tongue out. His behavior does not look like the video (yet, anyway!), but he fluffs up, goes from finger to finger and turns alot, and leans into my face and kisses me. He also puts his foot up on my cheek when he kisses me.
I don't really see it as sexual behavior, but I do fear it is pre-mating behavior that I probably should discourage, but he is so cute when he does this! It is the one time he is all sweet.
And yes, he screeches when I get out of his sight. I have been handling him a lot less, but he is still spoiled and screaming for me.

My Kiwi will be 1 on May 29th! He does the exact same thing!! He gets all fluffy and rubs into my neck, he wiggles his bottom alot along with this cute little noise. Not 100% sure he's a he, but my avian dr feels pretty confident Kiwi is a boy!! If I am not in his site, he does scream for me.

Oh! Patrick does this too. He tries to get in as close as he can when he brushes his cheek against mine and makes a kiss noise. So sometimes that foot will come up and touch my face. This goes on all year, just that, no rubbing or acts with toys. I grew up loving birds, always chased them outside trying to catch them as a child. I have had a bird (not the same ones) now for 20 years; Patrick for the last 6, nearly 7 years. So it is really amazing to me that I have this gift, this bird that plays kissy face like that... how can I stop it? Don't want to. Hope I'm not encouraging bad behavior...

Linda I noticed one statement you made that you scold him...That, I have learned, is the wrong thing to do...That makes them scream that much more...Harley is going on 4 years old and I've been through this a few times with him...I start to hum or sing softly and that will quieten his screams down....When you scold him, that is what he is wanting and will only make it worse...I know it is hard to tolerate, but bear with it and sing/hum away....

Also females will display their sexual behaviour sorta like this also, so you cannot say that it is all male all the time...Just from what I have observed....

Maybe others can enlighten your questions a little more....

Verde will be 1 y/o in March. Guess he is starting early! Saw him start doing that to his rope perch today. Thought he hurt his foot! Rofl!!

We'll I've had Milo for almost four years and I've never seen him do anything like that. He started plucking at three years old. Nothing had changed and I still don't know what happened to make him pluck. Could it be that he was frustrated and plucked instead of helping himself?

Pitou does something like this too, fluffs up, but makes a "hiss hiss" noise with an open beak, and tries to lift one leg up on to your finger or sticks the butt right towards you...i think mine might be a girl?
