Jeff
My name is Jeff and I aquired a quaker named Buddy about a year ago. I want to have buddy sexed this week, although by the way Buddy is always( for the lack of a better word) EXCITED I'm guessing he's a boy. ohmy.gif I dont know exactly how old Buddy is but I believe its around 3. My main concern is the attitude. Biting alot, very loud screams, not very chatty, Says some words but hasnt really learned new words. Also Buddy still has his wings, another reason for the vet trip. By clipping his wings will this help in better training?
I've been a member for about a year but never really had time to post. But this seems easier than trying to do it on my own wacko.gif
Frankie's Mom
Hi and welcome to the forum! smile.gif

In my personal experience, wing clipping helped adjust the attitude of my Frankie. It certainly did assist in letting him know he isn't the leader of the flock.

As for the "hormones", this is my first season having a q and dealing with this little treat. The way I have been managing this situation is to put Frankie back in his cage and tell him he was bad when he bites. I have also read on here that managing the amount of daylight the birds get is helpful in controlling this behavior.

I am certain others will be along shortly to give you more and better information!

Hi Jeff
Clipping the wings will definitely "humble" them. Others will give other advice for you. Welcome back...

I noticed an almost instant difference in Oliver when i clipped his wings. He went from Mr. Man to the sweet little chicken i fell in love with. As far as loud screams, i'm not quite sure.

Welcome Jeff and Buddy. I graduated from LaPorte High in 1983. Small world huh? Clipping Buddy's wings will help him out some. And he may just never be a big talker. I have had Morgan for 11 years and only says one word but barks and whistles and mimics noises. Just have patience.
