About 5 minutes ago Echo was nibbling on cheerios with me, normally he loves them but today he was just nibbling.. my sister walked into the room (Echo doesn't like her) and my bird went to run towards me and he threw up some slimy looking fluid =( .. i don't know if it was because he was scared or if hes sick.. afterwards i sat him on his water dish and he took 2 small sips.. Any ideas on why he did this would be really really helpful!
Quincy's Slave
It could have been a stress reaction or he could be regurgitating for you, protecting his "mate" from the "enemy" your sister.

Keep an eye on him tonight and tomorrow am and if he's still acting strange, give your vet a call

About 6 months ago my plumhead Zoey was sitting on a playstand and she kind of looked dizzy. I put her in her cage and she continued to close her eyes and slightly bob her head up and down like she felt sick to her stomach. She did drink a little bit of water. I looked under the play stand where she was and there was a glob of orange something there that she must have either regurgitated or threw up so I took her to the emergency clinic. OF COURSE once we get there, she's climbing all over the crate like a mad person and acting like a little ham. I had to convince the vet that yes just 30 minutes before she looked ill.
I had given her some egg earlier cooked in red palm oil. I really think it didn't agree with her. The vet said these little guys will feel sick just as we do if they get something in their system that doesn't agree with them.
The reason I took her in as I've read that vomiting is not good in birds, but after checking Zoey out, the vet didn't seem concerned about it. I WAS told to keep an eye on her though but it never happend again.
I wish I could give you some advice. Maybe someone here will know more.

So do I. And yep, they can have "indigestion" and act like it.
Nancy and Bubba
I know one day that Bubba got into some chicken fat before I could get him away. He was acting strange for a couple of hours like that - head bobbing, eyes closing. I think it gave him a tummy ache, but he did not throw up and was a few hours later. Guess, as it was said, they can get sick stomachs just like us. But I sure was worried there for a while. sad.gif
Hope Echo is doing better this morning.
