huh.gif Buttons has started putting her foot in her mouth... and not just because she's started talking blink.gif . When she gets feeling froggy, she starts picking at the bars of her cage and sticks one toe, claw and all, in her mouth while she does it. I've never seen her do it in the two months I've had her until now. She's still doing the little trembly head bobb thing too every now and then. She's just over a year old, she's gotten a clean bill of health from the vet, no food changes, her cage is not too small, and we haven't had any major changes lately except a rescue cat who we keep away from the birds for now. Any thoughts? It's just that she's doing a lot of new things right now and I don't know if they're normal or not. She's just gotten used to being my owner and finally talking with Cooper and singing and preening my hair (piercing my right ear in the process...oops just a little pinch there Mom!)Her poop looks typical, she's eating and drinking, putting herself to sleep at 8pm promptly as always, and continues to be her charming self. What's up with the foot thing and do I need to worry? I feel almost foolish being this concerned over seeing her pick her beak with her nails, but... there it is. huh.gif

I've seen my QP with his foot in his mouth as well. I think it's kinda like they are sucking their thumb blink.gif nothing to worry about as long as she isn't biting her toes off ohmy.gif

Isis has even stuck one of his claws up his nose and gone to sleep like that! laugh.gif

At 7 months Buddy started putting his foot in his mouth - I was not concerned.
He just stuff's it in there and then starts mumbling and grumbling away.
I tell him not to talk with his foot in his mouth. He seems to think this is fun.
I would not worry unless you see him doing damage to himself.
Hope this helps!

My Toby started doing this and we contacted his breeder. They are actually cleaning their feet. (Just think of where they have been). There's nothing to worry about. Good luck. Tobys mom-Sandy

Maya is actually in love with her foot. blink.gif She takes her foot in her beak and taps it on her perch, and then does a mock regurgitation. Silly thing. I think you're seeing some combination of all thses behaviors. They all have their own "thing".
