We have the windows open a lot lately and almost anytime Bob hears a bird outside he'll flock call to it and LOUD. He's being cute and sweet right now (of course) but then he'll hear a bird outside and just scream and scream and scream!! Is there anyway to stop this behavior aside from closing windows(not an option)?

Shut the windows. laugh.gif
Buku never did that- I would take him out all the time. He did pick up the Cardinal call. So he became a Cadinal quaker wub.gif

Hmmm, when my guys see birds outside they give a fright/warning call. They want nothing to do with those evil free flying weirdos.

LOL...evil free flying wierdos!!!
The wild birds look at my bird and think "what a Mamma's Boy!"
He even yells "Good Bird" to them and they ignore him.

Back to the question. I take Dobby for a walk to LET him scream. I think if he can get all him screaming done outside in the open, my neighbor won't be so annoyed when we are home.

you have windows open in april? you must not live in cleveland! laugh.gif

my parakeets will "talk" to the birds outside but so far Cricket just tilts his head and listens.
BobsMom
lol - I live in Texas - it was 85 today and will be most of the week smile.gif

bluff - how do u take ur quaker for a walk and/or encourage him/her to scream?

I wish he thought they were evil - lol. He gets excited and flock calls then listens for a response...screams again...on and on and on...

cardnial quaker - how cute! I wish we could shut the window- but our elec bill is upwards of 400$ mid sumer so we're doing what we can to keep the house cool w/o use of the AC
birdbluff
trust me...he needs no encouragement biggrin.gif
BobsMom
ok..lol so how do u take him for a walk?
birdbluff
His wings are clipped so I do the walking and we stop at each and every person we see and "allow" them to tell him he's a cute bird. He loves the attention, he gets to scream his lungs out and it forces me to be more sociable than I usually am.
Quakermom
thats funny...lol paulie doesnt do that. but he goes wild whe he hears the cardinals. he sings to them. the male cardinal always seems to repond..lol

Oh those raptors!!!! My Paulie scrutininzes any and all activity at the feeding stations I have for the outside birds. He squawks at the birdies, I believe he loves the brightly colored cardinals, he screams with the jays, but everybirdie and human around knows when a hawk is outside!!!!

I had a migraine one day and lying down on the sofa next to Paulies cage. Well, he starts this LOUD 3 short burst screams, then a pause, then 3 short screams again. I would just moan and tell him please to keep it quiet, that my head was hurting sooooo bad. Well he kept this up, over and over again for several minutes, finally I took the ice pack off my forehead, looked up at him and saw he was staring out the window. perfectly rigid. I figured there was something there, I looked and sure enough, a beautiful Coopers Hawk (avian predator) was sitting on TOP of the hopper feeder!!! Lol, silly bird, like he was going to get someone when they came in for lunch.

I thought Paulie was screaming for me to get up and take him out of the cage, no, he was just warning everybody about the hawk!!!! Bren
