So, I'm on a great dane forum, and we've been discussing different brands of dog food. One woman stated that she was going to begin feeding Calf Manna to her dogs. Now...I've asked if she was serious and if that was a safe feed and yada yada yada, but haven't gotten a response yet.

Now it's got me curious. I tend to use a good bit of livestock products on my dogs, and all are recommended by my vet for them. Ivermectin, Panacur paste, Blu Kote, etc. They're more affordable than the "dog" stuff, and I've been using them for yrs with no problems. So now I'm wondering if there isn't something to the whole Calf Manna thing. I don't know. It would obviously have to be supplemented with meats, but I'm wondering about the quality of ingredients and if it's even a real, feasible idea.

Not saying I'm going to go out and buy livestock feed for my guys, but I have to admit she has me wondering. Has anyone ever heard of this or done this?

dont know anything about that product but I have been experiementing with making my own dried dog food that my dogs seem to like so far but it isnt pretty nor are the shapes as nice as the bagged stuff but my kitchen aid grinder attatchment and dehydrator are getting a work out.

I don't know but considering that calves require a lot more protien than grown cows, there might be something there.

Yes we used to give small amts of it to our Australian Shepards and they loved it. We gave it to our horses is why we had it.

I've given my crew horse feed as treats when we're training at the barn, but I dunno if that counts, lol.
