I finially got my sweet angel back

For about a week she was real cranky. Those who read my post on her crankyness thank you for all the advise. I took her off the vitamins and the next day she was a little nicer. Last night I took someones advise on helping preen her and it was such a nice experience. She sat there and loved every second of it and today she is wounderful. I can go up to her and pet her with out her trying to bite. Do you think this will last? Or do you think her hormones will come back? Should I still beware? I know they are unpredictable but should I expect her to go back they way she was with constantly trying to bit?

Of course, their hormones can change with the seasons...This is the worst time...Gabby just went thru about 2 weeks of being "different" and biting me hard on my chin...but now she's sweet...Just watch Kiwi's body language and they usually let you know that way, when they don't want to do something...If you offer to have her step up and she doesn't want to right now..turn and go back in 2 minutes and she may have changed her mind...I just turn away and say, "no, Gabby"...Usually when I turn back and say "stepup" she steps right up for me without problems..we don't want them to be robots, but individual pets with individual personalities..
I'm glad the preening time worked out good..That's a good bonding activity...did you use a towel on your chest so she could stand without slipping off?
I guess I am a little more careful with Gabby, being a Grey, if she doesn't want to step up, she can really do damage with that big beak..I call it a black vise-grip...LOL!!! I use a light green towel over my hand..just draped over..she knows when I get the towel, it's time to step up...at least if she bites the towel it protects a little...
the other day, I was trying to tie a leather toys back onto her cage and she lunged at me and bit my finger...did I get mad? no, because it was her toy and she thought I was removing it..but neither did I "push into" the bite...LOL!!! it's automatic reflex to pull back..
I'm glad to hear that Kiwi "is back".....

p.s. Do you happen to get the Dr. Foster and Smith catalog? In the section on vitamins it talks about why you don't add vitamins without a vet's order....how fat soluable vitamins build up in their system...etc..if you will PM me, I will copy the article and send it to you.
