Billy my neuterd Rattie has taken to digging the litter from the litter box and spewing it all over , its not because its dirty or needs a change he does it in fresh new stuff and I change it every second day (They have 2 litter trays in the cage one at the top and one down the bottom , he only does it in the top one ..NAUGHTY BOY.....Just thought maybe some long time rattie owners could shed some light on the behaviour ..(Attention seeking ??) I doubt it but thats what it seems like...
Have a nice day I must get to bed now..

Hi maj and night night. My female rats used to do this, they we just trying to make a burrow apparently because they were feeling broody but the saw dust, wood chip wasnt deep enough so they would spend hours all three of them, team work pushing all the wood chip in a big heep up one side of the cage bottom or in their cubby hole, they must have all come into season together. I love rats to bits but hubby says the **** parrot is enough with two cats, shame xx

Maybe some newspaper shavings could be added for him to burrow into. I saw somone I knew who owned rats do this for there's. Might be worth a shot.smile.gif Good luck.

Anyhow, how deep are the shavings at the bottom of the cage? Rats love to dig and burry things, maybe try giving him something else to dig in??
