Can anyone suggest a good book on health issues/illness? I suppose all birds are the same? I have a QP.

Thank You. I just need something for a quick reference guide. Something I can keep handy for the first aid issues will be good also. I'll check at Books A Million or somewhere on the web. A quide for minor issues which don't really need a Vet is what I'd like to have on hand. I've had "Bird" since the beginning of January and so far all is great!! Thanks Again.

Good on you for having the foresight to get a book like that. If whatever book you get doesn't recomned an emergency first aid kit, thats something else you might want to look into.

A very nice and good book is The Complete Pet Bird Owner's Hand Book It has everything from cage set up, size, to behavior, to illnes and how to recognize something may be wrong etc. Very good book and not that pricy. Around $30
Another good one is First Aid for Birds: A Guide to a healthy happy pet. around $10
I also have two books by Mattie Sue Athen which are: Guide to a Well-Behaved Parrot and the one she has just on Quakers. They are a bit dated, but very good nonetheless. However, they do not have much medical info in it.
