Its been over a year you guys!! OH MY GOSH!!
I am so excited I cant sit still. I posted something on craigslist last month even though it had been over a year since he got lost and this morning someone replied AND sent pictures. And from what I can tell, it is TOTALLY franklin! She said she gave him away to a friend and that person gave him to someone else, but it shouldn't be hard to track them down!! YOU GUYS! Franklin might be comin home!!
If you want to read the email and see the pictures to compare them yourself, its all on my myspace blog which can be found here:

I just spoke with the girl via myspace messages and she says she's unsure about me getting him back, since he is living with a famiy (as far as she's aware) and they may not be keen on giving him up. But she is doing everything in her power to get ahold of the person who has him now so she can get us in contact!

If they give you any trouble you can start an on-line petition and all of us here(well me for sure)will sign it and you can present it to them as evidence of your support network. You simply HAVE to get him back! Although if I know you, you won't be taking no for an answer.

I totally agree with Ron. I also think if they give you any trouble we should all email them pleading for you to get him back as well as show them all of the messages posted here from last year when Franklin got away. He belongs with you.

UPDATE.
Came home from workout to this message from the girl who orginally found him:
"Okay. So here's the story.
You lost Franklin last year.
I found him shortly after and took him in for a few weeks.
I was living at home and my mom wouldn't let me keep him because of the cat.
She finds a home for him through her friend from work.
A few months later her friend gives Franklin to her husband's brother-in-law.
The brother-in-law has a best friend in New Orleans whos home got destroyed during hurricaine katrina.
Their bird got loose during the hurricane and they never saw him again.
So my mom's friend's husband's brother-in-law decides to give Franklin to his friend in New Orleans.
To sum it up, Franklin is in New Orleans.
I am sorry you won't be getting him back, but I can guarantee you that he is save, alive, and happy.
And personally I am glad to know he is helping heal the sadness and pain of another owner as he did for you. "
So, No Franklin. And I haven't been able to reply to that message because I'm too busy being selfish and wanting my friend back. I am completely bummed. I let myself get my hopes up.
I'm sorry for gettin everybody all riled up over nothing. I just had a really good feeling about this.
I guess now I can finally let go.
Thanks so much you guys. When I eventually get a new feathered buddy, ya'll will be the first to know. This is the most wondeful group of people on the net that I have ever had the pleasure of coming across. Thank you for EVERYTHING.

Steph, it is a catch 22. On one hand, it is good to know that Franklin is safe. Is it right to take him from where he is right now? That is isn't up to us to decide, it is up to you. Only you can decide if you want to pursue it.
As I mentioned, if you had Franklin DNA'd, you can easily prove that he is yours. But it sure doesn't come without costs (aka potential legal fees).

Apr 26 2007, 08:40 PM
OMG I am sooo sorry!!! If you want to,you could always go to court with them, though I don't think tha many people would want to go to that extreme. Have you talked to the family in New Orleans?Maybe they would be willing to give him back. Life is so unfair.
Stephanie
Apr 26 2007, 08:48 PM
Carrie, I didn't have him DNAed. Never figured I'd need to... hindsight is 20/20 i guess.
It wouldn't be fair to take him now. Especially considering that he's a replacement for a bird that they lost. But it does make me wonder what they'd do if they found out someone found their bird.
I can only hope that they're taking care of him the way I did (minus losing him...) or better. I still have his big cage and all his toys.
James goes to Afghanistan this July. He'll be there for 6 months. He has already talked about wanting to get engaged when he returns, and me moving in shortly after. So maybe at that point I can go back to havin a Quaker in my life.
bah. this is depressing as all get out.

I am so sorry Stephanie, it's so sad that little Franklin has gone through so many homes after being lost. I really hope that they love him and are taking wonderful care of him. Can you at least inquire about him and see if they'll give you any information?

Apr 26 2007, 09:24 PM
Oh goodness, I can't believe this Steph....And don't get me wrong...But not pursuing the issue is something I don't understand....
If I knew that was my baby, you darn right I'd be fighting for him with everything I have...How old was Franklin when he got loose....?
This just makes me cry again and I am sorry but I don't understand....I would be thinking of myself much more than the couple that has him now...So be it...You lost a baby by flight and so did they, but your baby has been found....If the bond between you and Franklin was a strong one Steph, I believe you would go after him....But again, that is your decision...
I sure hope you make the right one....

I just saw your post ...and awwww Im so sorry for whats happened to you. It makes my heart so sad for you and him to read this. Im really sorry for you my QP flew away a few weeks ago b/c of a mistake in my husbands judgement thankfully we were able to get him back. Thanks God for that!
My heart was so heavy tho and I can feel some of your pain Stephanie....

I've asked Ashley about seeing if there is any way to contact the family who has Franklin now. Its up to her to track down the friend of the mother and then track down the brother in law and then the family. If she's at all willing...
Maybe we can work something out... He is still mine, regardless! Ugh. This makes me sick. I feel utterly helpless

Keep trying Steph, don't give up too easily girl. Maybe if you can at least talk to these ppl that have Franklin now they will be understanding, they did go through something similar and know how heartbreaking this is for you. Gosh girl if you need anything I'm just a pm away.

Bummer deal...Don't give up if you don't want to...At least until you know that he's well taken care of and loved. It will be tough to prove since he's not banded and what not...And if you can't get him to say Franklin then well, you know...
I'm sorry you're having to go through the hurt all over again. '
Only you can decide to what extent you want to persue this. Its a tough one, but we're behind you no matter what your decision.
