OK...Reba the female pit isn't spayed yet, and she mated with Boomer. Now...Boomer is neutered. I spoke with my vet and he assured me Boomer can't get her pregnant and it's perfectly normal.

Now...what has me concerned is Reba is now lactating. blink.gif Her belly is the same, but her nipples are swollen and producing milk. How do I know if this is a false pregnancy? Could something have gone wrong during Boomer's neuter? Ugh...IDK. Anyone have any ideas? She hasn't been exposed to any other males that weren't neutered....oh man if she has puppies I am gonna be soooooo beyond unhappy.

Stacy it's probably just Reba's hormones kicking in. I honestly wouldn't get all worried about it at this point. Good luck girlie

Thanks Steph. I e-mailed the rescue group that's trying to help me find her a home, and asked them if we can go ahead and have her spayed. I don't have the funds to do it myself, and Bailey can't be neutered yet due to his health. Sooo...let's hope they say they'll go ahead and have her spayed now.

UhOh, could Bailey and Reba have gotten together?

Fingers crossed that she's just thinking she's pregnant and the rescue will get her spayed

I am sure it is just her hormones that are kicking in. I had a female weim before that I could not spay because of her health issues and everytime she went into heat her and my nuetered male would mate and her hormones would kick in. She would get the typical signs of pregnancy but in a few weeks all would subside and we never had any puppies. So I don't think that you need to worry.

No, I don't think so. They're not in the yard much together and she had just gone out of heat before he got here. She's actually not in heat right now.

I e-mailed the rescue and asked if they could go ahead and get her spayed for me, so that I don't end up with puppies. dry.gif I think they're going to go ahead and schedule the appointment. Bailey still isn't healthy enough to be neutered yet, and great dane/pit bull puppies are NOT something I want to try to find homes for. laugh.gif I think it's a false pregnancy. When we first adopted her from the shelter, she started lactating a few days later, so I'm thinking this is just her pattern. She has false pregnancies after each heat. Spaying her should solve that issue.
