OK.. where do you store your fids' food?
Hemingway's on Zupreem Natural pellets. I also have a bag of seed for a treat once a week--
And I also have some canary seed and egg food for Elvis (canary).
Do you all store in the fridge.. cabinet.. freezer? Do you worry about moisture when storing in the fridge/freezer? How long do opened bags of food stay edible? I have an older bag of seed from back when we first got Hemingway but I worry it's too old to give him for treats now.
I am certain this is quite the rookie question but ahhh.. here's to learning new old things!!!

I use the fridge and freezer. For the stuff that isn't opened, it goes in the freezer....for the stuff that I have opened, I store in the fridge.

I store in the freezer until I'm going to use it, then I bring it out. I have about er... actually, I'm not sure how much, but if you've seen those Laferber buckets, that's what I store food in for every-day pellet replenishment. It isn't full by a long shot, but I figure that much will be ok until eaten.

I store the 'beak appetit' in freezer baggies in the freezer and only use what I'm about to cook for the week. Once cooked, it is stored in the fridge, also the birdie bread is in the fridge. Pellets and seeds are in an airtight storage container in the pantry. I just look on the expiration date of things to make sure that I'm still within the time range.
My question, I've read in in an article that one should be careful about storing pellets and seed in the fridge because of the condensation that occurs on it after it is taken out. Is that something to be concerned about?

It would condense on the outside of the bag, so as long as you let it warm to room temperature and then use it, it should be fine. And the only reason that would be a problem would be if you were then thinking of storing it just out for longer periods of time for it to grow mold, etc. If you are just taking out the daily stuff I don't see how it could affect anything.
