Hi. My name is Connie Martiny and I live in New Orleans, LA with my husband Lloyd, my Shih Tzu Annie and Chihuahua Belle. I have an African Grey named Alex who was 8 yrs old and who died unexpectedly 4 weeks ago. I am soon to be the proud mother and "Lola", a 4 wk old blue quaker. She will arrive from Tweety Bird Aviary via Delta Airline in about 3 wks. I can't wait to get her.
Any advice on what I should expect from a baby Quaker? This is my first Quaker.
Hope to hear from you.

Hi Connie,
My name is Claire, I live in Metairie & work in N.O. So very sorry to hear about your AG. I have a QP, Tiel & GCC. The QP & GCC are so much fun. My Tiel is very laid back. I am hoping one day to get a TAG. I keep thinking I should wait until I am able to stay home with the fids. I understand they need alot of one on one time. Did you work at the time you have your AG? I bought my QP from a man in Metairie, off of Jefferson Hwy, he has all different types of birds. Welcome to the group!!!

Hi Connie,
Welcome to the forum! My quaker is just turning 4 months old and have had him home for almost 2 months now but I've known him since he was 4 weeks old.
I miss the baby stage! So tiny and still quaking a little. Cricket still goes into baby mode when I feed him his warm oatmeal in the morning but I think pretty soon he won't want that anymore because I hear him eating his pellets in the morning before I take his cover off.
He was really quiet for the first 2 weeks. Sat really still in his cage but let me take him out of the cage where he would sit on my shoulder for awhile. He would get tired really early (like 7pm) and I was afraid that we wouldn't get to spend much time together but now that he's getting bigger he's staying up longer. Sometimes I have to put him to bed as I'm going to bed!
If you have any questions, let me know! Congratulations to both you AND Lola!!

Congratulations on getting your new Blue Quaker. I live in S.C. & am looking for a quaker. I had one several yrs. ago, but had to find him a new home when I got sick. One thing I can tell you to exspect a lot of fun from that little fellow. Quakers are clowns & are really amusing. Mine wasn't hard to take care of as well as I remember. Was yours hand fed?? Where did you get it?

Welcome Connie,
You will love this forum.

Everyone here are great people and will help you with questions you have.
We lost our cockatiel last Januray that we had for over ten years, so know how you feel.
I have a green quarker and have had her for about five weeks. She is so sweet and loves attention. She will sit on my shoulder or the back of the sofa in the evenings when I watch T.V. She is just starting to talk, and loves to takes baths.
Post a picture of your new baby when she arrives.
