Hi friends,

I come to you with a heavy heart this morning. I used to feel like I was getting away with something when I woulld read how other peoples fids were 'romancing' their toys or perches. My little girl never did that till this morning. I shall exclude all the ugly details except to say that I awoke to her breathing funny so I jumped out of bed to check on her. After observing her actions for several moments I figured out why her breathing was so funny. She also had a 'smile' on her face. She smiled for 30 minutes.
Alas, my little girl is growing up.

Yes, unfortunately they ALL do grow up and ultimately find the need to pleasure themselves.
Stephannie and Buzz
So funny...Buzz is still a little behind all of your fids, thank goodness....I know David will freak when Buzz gets started!

I'm reading all these posts about the different fids "growing up" and I can honestly say that I DO NOT look forward to this at all. Louie is still a baby and I know that by next spring he will no longer be a baby....I dread the day.... sad.gif

Oh my. How old is your fid? I'm just wondering how much time I have before Jack starts doing the wild thing with his toys (he turned 2 in February).

Q and Miss D
mine is four and I have never seen this behavior

I do not, however, wish to film him for fear that I may

The behavior seems to begin at different ages with different Q's. Maya is 4 this year, and this was the first year she has shown the, um, desire. Our other birds are 14, 5, 4 and 2. So far Maya is the only one to do it. And I might add, still going strong into about the third or fourth week. No shame I tell ya. laugh.gif

I can't stop laughing when I read these post. Someday the laugh will be on me I guess. Boo is only 11 months old and is only interested in biting my ear and screeching shrill enough to break glass. Is this behavior common to all breeds?, or are Quakers just particularly green little hornets?
