I am so confused about full spectrum lighting. My questions are this:
1. Do the bulbs come in a wattage?, or just one power?
2. How long do you leave the light on the bird at a time?
3. What is the distance the light should be from the cage?
4. Do you use a regular floor lamp or a special floor lamp?
5. Can you place the bulbs in the ceiling fan light sockets?
6. How many hours do you leave the light on per day?
7. Do you turn it on daily?

Did I leave anything out?

Timirage this is what I have learned about spectrum because I do use it on Harley....

I have read and Harley's vet also confirms that you should have at least a 90 CRI and I would think that is considered the wattage...I have a 93 CRI which I ordered off the internet....

I do turn the light on every day for about 8 to 10 hours and the bulb is in a socket with a shield around it....It fastens to something I have on the wall which puts it at 12 to 14 inches from Harley.....

You can use a floor lamp adjusting it to the distance from birdie and it can be used in a regular overhead fixture; I'm not sure about the ceiling fan light socket....If you place it in a regular overhead fixture, leave the globe off that covers the bulb...I believe Dee on here uses a couple in her bird room which is in overhead sockets...I may be wrong on that; not sure....She has 2 birds and I guess that is why she uses two bulbs...

Now, tongue.gif did that cover everything....

If you have any more questions, someone will try and help.....Let us know if you understand anymore about full spectrum lightning....

Wow that was an awesome article! I just bought a new reptile light because I can't find an avian one and the guy at the store checked it and told me that the one he recommends has the right range for birds. Now I know not to use it, or at least move it farther away.

Thanks so much for helping with this. smile.gif
