Ok, so i was out looking for cool toys and stuff for my new QP last night, and I came across this site that had harnesses with diapers in them.... Should i waste my money on one, or just get a normal harness for my new fid?

Laura it is according to what age your quaker is....I have read some about diapers and from what I understand it is best to try birdie with the diaper while it is very young...I know people here on the forum have tried their birds with both the diaper and harness at a later age and didn't have much luck with it....
So I dunno what to tell you....I know that I never would be able to get either one of those items on Harley just from the way he acts.....He doesn't much like a hand going over the top of his head...

So good luck whatever you decide, but if it was me and your quaker is up in age, I would say, save your money.....

It will be a baby.... Just weaned. So i would start while he/she is very young. I would like to be able to take my bird out with me when i leave the house, but I would never do that without some sort of harness or travel cage.

Well you shouldn't have any trouble with a baby and good luck...I sure hope he/she takes to it.....Most of them do I think when they are young....

Well cross your fingers for me. I wasn't sure about the diaper ones, but I think i will give it a shot. I think it will make it easier to take him out with me.

I would definately give it a shot since you are getting a baby!

Definitely go for it!

Since your baby is young it should work.

Have you looked at these harnesses? We just got one for Casey and she has worn it once so far, and it was so much fun to have her outside with us.

I did see those. I am going to get one of those and one of the flight suits, just in case he doesn't like one or the other. I'm getting sooooo excited!

Patrick couldn't have been more than two when we got his diaper/flight suit and between my husband and I, we got it on him and I wouldn't say he loves it, but for the most part he behaves himself and does seem to enjoy getting out in public with us while wearing it. Based on our experience with it, I'd give a vote for trying it, although I know it hasn't been as easy for many on here.

I tried one with Charlie but nup he dont like it. He throws the bigest hissy fits i've ever seen. Literally! He hisses at it, bites it, tucks his feet in the grabs onto the strap near his feet and tries to push it away. looks really funny tho, not that i should laugh. he wont stand up or eat or anything when its on. We introduced it really slowly to him, put it next to the cage for weeks and he seemed ok with it. Then started to put harness on my shoulder while he was on there, he seemed ok but the day we went to put it on him, OMG all hell broked loose! Since that day, im very weary of putting it on him. It's only out of necessity.

If you are getting your new baby from a breeder...then you might discuss this with her and she might be willing to start your baby with the suit or harness while she still has him..the earlier the better.

I am also getting a weaned baby in a couple of weeks. I have heard that flight suits and diapers are unhealthy. When do you put a diaper on your bird and for how long?

my 3 year old QP mostly tolerates his flightsuit - will wear it without the sulking and minimal chewing IF we're going out and he's distracted the whole time, but not around the house. My 3 MONTH old Cockatoo took to hers right away! wears it with no chewing or fussing at all, which means she can cuddle under the blanket while I watch TV and I don't have to worry about the neon green poop-bombs on my brand new leather couch!

I have never tried diapers but i wouldnt waste my money on a harness. It seems like everybody has one. Every quaker i know hates their leash. I tried putting gizmo on one and he was HORRIFIED. Its not natural for a bird to be on a harness unless he doesnt mind itt. Basically you could buy it but there is not a good chance he will go near it.
