Does anyone here have the sims 2 with the pets extension? (It's a PC game, if you have no clue what I'm talking about. ) My husband and I decided to use most of our wedding gift money for important things but we figured we should play with a little of it too. We treated ourselves to 3 things - two living and one non-living. You'll find out about the living things later, you know, suspense and drama. But the non-living thing we got is the pets extension for the sims 2. I was really excited about the parrots but disappointed when I got into it - only a few types of parrots, can't customize the cage (no toys, only one perch), can't breed them... teaching it how to talk is fun, along with walking around with it on your shoulder and playing with it, but... I was hoping the parrots would have as much as the dogs and cats in the extension do (breeding, genetics, teaching them tricks, getting them jobs, etc. etc.). Ah well.

I'm just curious to see if anyone else has it.

I do And I told hubby thesame thing..it would be neat if we could buy different toys and such for it And teaching them tricks would be fun as well.....

I wonder if EA games would be up for suggestions. I'd gladly buy an extension pack that would allow parrots to have the same perks as dogs and cats do.. Do you have the macaw for your sims, to match the 2 macaws you have in real life? And Sandi, I'd never heard of the game til my husband brought it with him from France - and I'm not old!

Hehe, fids, well, the only computer that my digital camera and editing software is installed on right now is being a pest with getting it hooked up to the internet, and we don't have any burnable cds right now. So when I get it hooked up and am through torturing everyone I'll post pics.

Of course my sims have the macaw what other bird would I get for them My son plays as well and he has the cockatoo LOL

How about starting a "hint" thread and give hints about the new fids? Maybe someone could guess?

I have the macaw too, I'm tempted to make a room to put every type of bird in... but right now I'm struggling with my pair of parents, twin teens, a toddler, 2 dogs, and 3 puppies. I didn't think the dogs would add this much work, I just wanted to see what happens when you breed a red labrador/spaniel mix to a golden retriever!

I have the game too! But was disapointed in the birds, but at least they can fly around, more than they could do in the SIms 1.. Sims 2 seasons rocks though!

Yup we have seasons also! It made it interesting with puppies when they went outside to pee - all we could see was their ears sticking out of the snow!

With the birds flying around, can they escape the house? It's sorta cool to watch the macaw fly around all the rooms but I'm afraid of losing him.

Yup, have "Pets"...had to "create" a Pomeranian since it wasn't one of the breeds. The game was a little disappointing but still cool. Seasons is awesome though =)

I wonder if the reason for the lack of expanding in the bird area is due to lack of knowledge. I think the avian community and knowledge in appropriate parrot keeping, husbandry techniques, breeding etc is in its infancy as compared to other pets like dogs, cats etc.

Even most of us when doing research come back to forums like this to confirm what we are reading because of the conflicting and debatable issues .. and parrots due to their intelligence are so complex .. so it could be they simply don't have the information to extend the game and don't want to get it wrong.

Who knows .. if you contact EA they may be open to information to extend their next version ..

i ahve the sims pets for PC and Psp they need o expland the bird area with more animals an give them alittle more animality..lol the dogs have lives of their own, so what not birds?

The maxis company is so open to suggestions that they allow you to send them your own characters and pets. I believe on their site you can upload your own pets and download others. There is a llama someone made that acts like a pet dog. I don't know how to do it but if you post on their forum they can help. They create these 3d pets in a program called Milkshape. (You can download a 30-day free trial at their site.) I don't know how they program their behaviors.

I love the sims both 1 and 2. Do you have Open for business? If you get that then your sims can start their own pet store.
I created the cartwrights from bonanza in my game and they own a herd of dogs instead of a heard of cattle.

I am scared if I buy the Sims 2 and this extension I will never see the light of day again. I had it bad enough with the Sims 1 at one point... but still I WANT.
