I am still not sure what a bacterial infection is?? And how it effects my bird??
I could look it up on line, but I value the voices of people who have been there and know
about it firsthand.
Buddy is 10 months old. He has been on antibotics for 7 days now.
He is still chewing off his feathers. He has now started chewing on the tops of his wings.
I just do not know how to make him stop - the vet gave me a special spray, but that is not
working - the only time he is not chewing on his feathers is when he is covered for bedtime or when he is wet. I am sooo fustrated - my last bird was a plucker and I lost him at an early age,
I do not want to see my little Buddy go through this too. sad.gif
If it is in his crop why would he be chewing his back, legs and wings? Please explain if you can.

Thanks soooo much for any help or advice.

He came home from the vets with a collar, but I had to take it off within 24 hours as he would
not eat.

I have another call into the vet also.

Well, I would imagine it would depend on the type of bacteria, I don't know that for sure... I'll use the example from one of our other members bird who suddenly started picking and chewing and had a bacterial infection, it made the birds whole body itch so he would pluck and chew where ever it itched. After the infection was cleared up and he was on a mild sedative for a while he quit plucking. Now he's beautifully feathered and all is well...

Hope everything turns out for your little feathered friend. Keep us posted...
