maddie and otis
Yesterday I got Otis a little hanging toy, and It's already destroyed! Otis doesn't play with his toys, he destroys them! =)That was a great waste of five bucks. Oh well.So how what is your fid's fastest toy destroying time?

I think it depends on the toy and what it is made of. Max has been known to destroy a toy in under a few hours if the toy:

a ) for whatever reason ticks her off; and/or

b ) is shreddable.

both Milo and my TAG Mickey are known as the demolition team in my house...they are out to destroy destory DESTROY LOL and can do damamge to a toy within an hour or two sometimes...I like to buy them toys made with palm, coconut, rawhide, sisal and other shreddable goodies...if I give them ones with plastic or heavy wood they don't really show any interest...picky fids dry.gif

My quaker Boo doesn't do much damage to anything except popcycle sticks, cinnamon sticks and sucker sticks.

My senegals are so destructive we had to mount a 2 inch by 2 inch by 3 feet untreated pine board inside the cage in the corner. They go though one a month or so.

Glaciers probably destroy things faster than Sylvia- she has yet to more than nibble on anything, including the 3 toys she came with that look like they were bought a long time ago, in a galaxy far far away- suffering bleaching from stars the whole trip. laugh.gif She does enjoy untying knots, though. I rather wish she would... I miss my gerbil's chainsaw prowess- they could demolish a block of wood bigger than themselves in a matter of weeks.

LOL mine loves to destroy them. Taking them apart is half the fun as making sure the toy is totally dead for hours after. I gave up getting my quaker happy huts as I would call them sad huts hours after he got his sharp beak going to them.
One thing you might think of doing is making some of your own toys for your bird too, to save some money. Most are really easy and affordable. Lately I have been drilling holes in large nuts and alternating them with wood beads I dyed with food coloring and stringing them to hang in his cage. I use leather strips as the string. I also make my own pinata type shredding toys by blowing up a balloon and then covering it with strips of newspaper that has been soaked in a flour water mixture and then wrapping it around the balloon. letting it dry. Then popping and removing the balloon and filling up the inside with some bird treats and sealing the opening with some more flour water newspaper stuff and I sometimes paint it colorful with food coloring to hang in the cage and let him go to town with it. You can also attatch a bunch of coffee filters together for a shred toy etc.....
