So you found one Melissa? Where did you find Nalu...I was just before calling my breeder back to see when she would have more quakers available....But glad you have finally gotten one.
Please tell us a lot about Nalu, was she hand-raised, birthday, and whatever else you you will share...
He/she certainly is a beauty.....Congratulations..........

I found her through an ad online. I can't take credit for the name, she already had it. She is a year old and was rescued from a neglectful situation. This is what her current owner has told me about her:
"Nalu" is a girl, we believe. She is outgoing, loves (and I do mean loves) bells, foottoys (which she will enthusiastically throw, beat, grab and fetch), and talks. She talked a lot when she first got here although she is going through a quiet phase right now. She hasn't said anything save a random "stop that" or "bye-bye" in two weeks.
Her total vocab that we know of includes "hello, bye-bye, pretty bird, stop that, ouch,peek-a-boo, hahaha" a wolf whistle, and kissy noises. She learns new words quickly and is very smart. She learned to step up in just a day. She steps up onto perches or hands and is learning to step down. She is great about staying on a gym or perch and just watching you do your things but loves to ride around on your arm too.
Her only downside is that the outgoing attitude she has also makes her a bit more nippy in certain places, by that I mean her cage. Outside of her cage, she is a sweetheart, you can pet her all over, cut her wings and nails (when toweled), and give her kisses on her head. She is very fun to be around and as the first talking parrot I've ever been able to have a conversation with, I've really gotten a kick out of her.

I am so happy to know that you found a wonderful rescue...Thank you for rescuing her from a neglectful situation...and maybe you'll be able to get some of her sound on video...We would love to hear her.I hope they weren't too mean with her..She certainly is a doll...Sounds like you have a real honey Melissa....Oh----Where did you have to go to get her? Just curious....
Maybe we can visit sometimes and at the same time our little green babies can meet each other...
And yes - GO CLEMSON. ! ! !

Julie, she is in Bluffton. I'm also glad that I was able to find a rescue rather than buying from a breeder. I would love to meet you and Harley some time.

Does he talk?
Yep, I am a big Clemson fan.

That sounds great, and yes my little man talks when he wants to..He says a lot of things.....And he will also laugh at you for the longest...I've never figured that one out....Any new person, he will start laughing at them until they get to laughing and then he really goes at it....He also whistles his song, "Amazing Grace" (my sister taught him that)...We enjoying each very much......
Glad to hear you are getting a beauty little green chicken.....

How wonderful!! Congrats on the new QP. I'm glad you found a rescue. That's awesome. By the way.....if you and Harley's Moma get together, don't forget me. It can be a South Carolina Quaker get together. I live a very short distance from Harley (very short).
