Tom Nemerovsky from www.quakerman.com

Has anyone dealt with him before?

Thanks in Advance,
Melissa

I haven't purchased a Quaker from him before, but most people in the avian business know of Tom. Max, my Quaker, comes from one of his lines of Qs.

Anyways, if you're interested in purchasing a bird from him, go ahead. He does a good job of raising his chicks.

Just wanted to add...

If you're considering getting a Quaker from him he lives in Florida. If that means you have to have the bird shipped, then you might want to get one from Andie...Just me, but I'd go with Andie over any other breeder.

The reason I'm looking in FL is that my cousin will be making a trip down there soon and would be able to pick the bird up. Also, Jean from this forum has kindly offered to do the same for me if I find one near Jacksonville.

Melissa,
Tom Nemerovsky is an excellent breeder. Give him a call and talk with him or e-mail him (Personally, I recommend calling as sometimes his e-mail is overwhelming!). Tom is a very caring breeder and very supportive even to people who have not purchased their birds from him! He gives of his time and knowledge to help people learn more about Quakers and their care both over the telephone and the internet. I've heard nothing but good things about his babies. Friends in other states have had their birds shipped to them from Tom with no problems. They have been very happy with their babies from Tom.

Tom has always been very helpful to me...he is having some health issues, so I'm not sure what's going on there.

Shipping really isn't an issue, as long as the temperatures cooperate. biggrin.gif

Yeah Tom is not only a awesome breeder but a very good friend of mine as well.He is just like me stands behind his babies forever..And you can call him for anything. My 3 pairs are from him as well.Very huge nicely built thats for sure..You don't realize the difference between a bird that gets only Roudybush & a bird thats gets other pellets & everything else. Until you have visited his aviary..Very high quality birds & very stocky built..Highly recommended that for sure..

Just wondering if he has changed his diets for his birds? Up til last year, I know he was feeding exclusively an all-pellet diet, as he was constantly saying that an all-pellet diet has had no effects on his bird and he hsd been feeding them all-pellet diet for many, many years.

Thanks everyone, I have decided to get a bird from Tom. smile.gif

my lil blue quaker baby that just arrived home is one of Tom's, he was great to deal with, answered all my questions, reassured me that my baby would be ok on the airplane ride home from FL to NY and he was right about everything smile.gif and also VERY happy to get an update on the baby's homecoming ....The Baby is a little bit shy, but friendly and really pretty...I could'nt believe the way his/her feathers look they are SO shiny...So I would say go for it and get one of Tom's Q's

I believe so, he said I could feed our new baby either roudybush or avi-sci...I;ve been feeding roudybush cause its easier for me to get over here

Has anyone that has bought a bird from Tom experienced any difficulty on his part when it comes to payments by check?

I've decided to get Petrie from him since he has two 10 week old babies and my breeder isn't having much luck with her pairs.

He told me that he wanted the full price in advance and I really didn't feel confortable doing that so I suggested mailing a check for 60% of the full price and paying the remaining amount when I picked Petrie up. He wrote back and basically said that he'll take 60% now (although he seemed VERY reluctant to do so) but that he will ONLY accept a USPS money order. I'm sure he's only trying to protect himself but it makes me feel as though he doesn't trust me at all. He definitly didn't make me feel as though I could go to him for help at anytime...

I'm hoping that he'll come around when I go up there to get Petrie and we get to meet.

Like i had posted before we bought 7 birds from him and had no problem what so ever we put half down and when it got warm enough to ship them We sent him the rest and he shipped them the next day and as far as i know he only accepts postal money orders hes been breeding birds for over 50 years and sure he's been burned a few times so I don't blame him for being cautious as We've been burned before and anytime i've called him he has always answered what ever i have asked him as i said before I highly recommend him and would definately buy from him again and if anyone asks where to buy one if we didnt have any from ours i would definately send them his way
