Click to view attachmentClick to view attachmentSo, I know we have had some posts recently about Birdontherocks.com, but I have to tell you ... John went above and beyond the call with his latest creation!!

I had asked for a top of cage perch for Frankie, as his cage doesn't have a play top, and he really likes to just hang out on the top of it, so I figured, why not make it more homey?

I emailed John with an idea of what I thought I wanted, and boy, did he ever do a great job interpreting it! Here is the masterpiece ...

Wow! I love it. John is so good at making those flagstone perches. You might have inspired a new line for his catalogue. laugh.gif

Was it much more expensive than one of his regular rock perches?

I have some homemade bird trees, and I've been trying to come up with a way to attach a rock perch to them, but I haven't been struck with inspiration yet. When I do, I'm gonna ask John to whip something up for me.

Now get exporing Frankie. biggrin.gif

Wow, I love it!! I just ordered two flagstone perches from him - gosh, if I would have seen that a couple of days ago, I would have asked him for one of those!!

It wasn't too expensive, considering it was a custom order. The entire thing, including the hook and branches with washers, etc was around $125. I am quite pleased! tongue.gif It is EXACTLY what I wanted for Frankie, and one cannot put a price on satisfaction! rolleyes.gif

That is very creative and beautiful!!!. I was wondering though for all your bird on the rock users...do your birds use them alot? If so do they help keep the nails and beaks trimmed? I was wondering as he has a deal on 8 for $100.00 and I was thinking of ordering two sets for all my guys. Otherwise if it really depends on the individual bird on usage I may just order a couple and move them around cage to cage to see who will use them. I think they are an awesome price and I just love the idea

I have 4 of them...and all my birds use them...especially my Umbrella Cockatoo...I'm thinking about ordering a LARGE corner one for her and moving hers to My Amazons...We'll see... I have one in my finches cage and they all love being up on it...especially the young fledglings....

Its just too bad that rocks are so heavy...Imagine that...smile.gif wink.gif

Of all our birds Maya uses it the most. She sleeps there, takes her food up there and eats, she plays there too. It is by far her favorite spot in the cage now.

Buddy also uses it as a feeding station, but still has a favorite swing.

Loco is on and off all the time. He uses it as a stepping stone to get where he wants to go.

Tinker just likes to perch there....very content.

Tiko is the only one who doesn't use it much. He will step on it and use it but he is still leary of it. Those Greys can take a while to get used to certain new things.

But as I mentioned, the best part is the smooth nails we have now. The more they use it the smoother the nails get. We've basically put the nail clippers away.

I'm trying to get John to work on a couple of ideas for me. I'll let you know if they work out.

I should buy shares. laugh.gif

I think I'll go for the deal and get the 16 perches. I hate taking birds in for nail trims and have to take 6 in tomorrow. If I had only purchased these a couple months ago. DARN!!!
Yes I was wondering how my greys will take to them. I bought a very nice hanging manzanita gym for them and they are scared to death of it. HELLOOOO! You're birds and in the wild this would be your most likely choice of perching!!!!! I guess I'll have to move it into the small birds room since the big burly greys can't handle it!!!! Silly lil guys
