Rats just werent made for pets. Ferrets are so disgusting looking. They look so overweight and saggy.

Rats are just as much pet material and any wild critter WE humans take from the wild and try to domesticate..many think Birds are not meant to be pets either ...

I agree. I've heard rats make wonderful pets. I've actually tried to talk Tim into letting me have a rat before. As far as ferrets go, I'd love a ferret but my time is spread so thin now I don't need anything else to take care of. As far as birds go, I personally think that birds should have just been left in the wild and never domesticated to begin with. Having said that, I do love my birds and now can't imagine life without having one. Hypocritical, yes I know. I do think there are some species that just should not be kept as pets, period. Mainly larger species like the bigger cockatoos and macaws. I wish they'd stop breeding them. However, my feelings don't help the birds that are already here now, and I do have a U2. I got him as an adult, and will do everything I can to make his life as enjoyable as possible. I won't however, purchase one from a breeder. There are more than enough out there that need homes.

I often feel that way (about fids) and feel guilty and cruel sometimes and like you I will never buy from a breeder again maybe help some poor unwanted /rehomes fid ..I try to give my birds as much freedom as I can but do feel sorry they will never be free to have families and belong to big flocks of their own ..I love them dearly but also feel sad for them Too , they live a un-natural life with us humans even though we love them .
