Full Version: Lost My Qp In The House
Quaker Parrots Forum > Welcome! > Introductions

We bought our QP on Saturday and everything has been
great ! Well, this morning I took him out of his cage
and he was sitting on top of the parakeets cage when I
left the room. He seems to like it there.

A while later I returned to the room and no PePe.
I can't find the stinker anywhere and am upset over this.

I can't ask you "any ideas" because you are not here at my home to help me find him...so this is just a venting situation.

you can try calling to him and see of he answers back. do you have any other animals in the house?

Also as you seach each room close the door if you can - that will narrow own the space he has to roam to.
Casey's Mom
I would also suggest calling him to and see if he answers.
Is he a clipped baby? or can he fly and hide in things? unsure.gif

Welcome and Good luck! smile.gif

Another suggestion is get a plastic bag or paper bag and crinkle it, lots of times they will react to the noise. Just keeping saying any words he knows or like or normally responds too. Please keep us posted and sit down carefully and walk carefully he could be anywhere.

Even shaking his food bag might help, or filling up his food dish. But check all the small places...even if you don't think he'll fit, check it anyways smile.gif

For future reference please don't leave him unsupervised, even for a second. These little guys of ours are WAY too smart wink.gif

I hope you have found your bird by now. I surely hope it didn't get in the toilet sad.gif

Yes it is hard--very hard....sometimes lessons come the hard way.

His wings are clipped.

Toilets are closed so no danger in that.

Also will be careful where we sit....maybe he crawled up in the recliner couch. I have looked but he is not there.

I guess when he gets hungry he will chirp.

or hopefully screetch.

I have called a few friends and asked for group prayer

I just keep looking for him. You guys gave great ideas
and I appreciate them.

Especially the part about the bag.

When I find him I will come back and let you know.

In the meantime the hunt continues.

Once when my husband and I were out, our kids left Tiki unattended, and he hid himself away. They searched for hours, and Alex was almost hysterical. He was found sound asleep in the fig tree, blending in with the leaves. All I have to do to find Tiki is cough, he has always let out a loud squeak when I do. Good luck.

He may be anywhere, but when it starts to get dark, he may flock call, wanting to go to bed...you'll be able to find him then for sure.

Come on Pepe!!! Talk to Mama!!! Come out come out wherever you are!!
Quincy's Slave
Oh no I hope you find him! Do you have other pets in the house?
Andie's Mom
Look under couches carefully...behind book cases, on the chair legs of dining room chairs...In the bedrooms under the bed, behind dressers...behind curtains, In side lamp shades Behind and under the TV. around the computer towers Heating vents if you have any, or even in the Base board heater grids. If the kitchen is near by look behind the fridge or any dark corner, any sack or bag. Watch where you sit.

Hoping you don't have any other animals besides the parakeets... Look around their cage and look in his cage and around it very closely.

Please keep us posted whether you find him or not....

Big Hugs...

Our QP "got lost" once..he was on ..in the hanging curtians in the living room!
~Wasabi~
I've found mine in places like curtain folds, under leaves of a plant plants, fig tree, behind ivy leaves, decorative bird houses, lamps, in a towel, etc. Especially Jada, she's great at hiding. I found Blue in the chimney one time.

Good luck! As long as there isn't an open window or door, you'll find him when HE is ready! wink.gif

We also "lost" Morgan a few times in the house. Seems like he likes heights, we always found him on top of the curtains.

Click to view attachmentLORDIE WHAT AN EXHAUSTING DAY!

When hubby came home he turned the couch up and out he came ! smile.gif as if to say ----- "hey you guys, where ya been?"

I was so happy to see him.

I sure won't leave him alone again.

I am also sure I will be coming to this board quite a lot.

Thanks so very much for ALL your kind words of encouragement.
They EACH AND EVERY ONE meant a lot in a time of great stress.

I am going to try to upload a picture of PePe. He is in the kitchen sink eating millet. The towel is because he was afraid of the shiny surface but I guess the towel trick worked and of course I stayed nearby for security until he felt safe enough to stay there.

Millet is so messy I like the idea of the sink to eat it.

We love our PePe.

Thanks to all JO

Quakermom
you need to teach pepe how to whistle or call when you call out his name, paulie knows that trick how id got him to do it was whenever he's squak or make a cute noise i'd call his name and repeat it ever time hed make the noise again. whenever paulie fell and i called to him he'd call back. glad to hear he's okay.
Sandi Kiwis Mom
