ZeZe has been much LOUDER lately. Not really screaming but just chirping and making noise. I've determined he does this when I run the vacuum. And it's like it just ruins his day because he's noisy for a very long time after I'm done running it. Even if I don't run it where he's located, no matter where I run it, he disapproves! Anyone else have this issue?

Funny you should ask. I've heard many parrot owners who say their birds are scared, or freak out when the vacuum is brought out.
Maya on the other hand actually seems to really enjoy the sound of the vacuum. She will talk to it, sing to it, and whistle it tunes.

Does it every time without fail.
Our other birds don't seem to care one way or the other.

You will learn that the little green chickens are pretty much afraid of everything, hence the chicken name. Morgan is much more afraid of the hand held then the upright. He sees it and goes completely nuts. I think that maybe he thinks that it will suck him up or something.

haha Funny thing is, when I'm vacuuming near his cage he just kind turns his head and looks at it. I even use the hose to get under the tray and he's totally cool. But as soon as I get to the rest of the room, the stairs and upstairs he starts making a ruckus. Maybe he's trying to compete with it LOL

Oh Boy! Not only do I get the evil eye while he is hiding in his happy hut....but the whole time the vacuum cleaner is going Angel is screaming "your a buttcrack"! And he won't come out until that mean old thing is out of sight and it usually takes about an hour before he decides its gone.

Funny how they can vary from QP to QP. None of my birds react to the vacuum. In fact, when I'm down under cages vacuuming up, I'll usually end up with a curious little bird who climbs through my hair to check out what I'm doing.
Now the BROOM!!! That is a whole other story!! They are ALL terrified of it!! That and the tape measure!!!

My little green chicken is petrified, before its even turned on he hurries back inside his cage into a corner as far away as he can get from the monster & hooks his beak onto the cage for dear life and hangs there till the vacuum leaves the room.

The vacuum is Niki's arch-nemesis. I keep it in the closet and even if I open it to get a coat, he start screaming and carrying on. You'd think after 12 years he'd be used to it, but he hasn't. He also tries to attack it.

My guys don't mind the vacuum too much. Sometimes, for whatever reason, they start taking baths in their water dishes when I vacuum. Mostly they just go about their birdy business.

YES, Kiwi hates the vacuum!! I put him in another room or on my shoulder when I vacuum his "area". My Tiel loves the vacuum, he sings along with the noise!

There is nothing in the world that my QP hates more then the vaccuum ... he freaks out at the sight of it. We tell him that we are taking the yellow monster out to let him get ready for it. (The vaccuum is yellow) haha

Oh seriously-- NCVon-- that IS hilarious about Angel. Hemingway would be cursing up a storm if he could when the vacuum comes out. It doesn't even have to be ON. He really is scared of everything. Anything with a long handle (brooms, mops), baseball caps, tape measure, etc. Puts him into a frenzy every time! Poor little conflictd thing. He even gets his panties in a wad if he's in the kitchen and catches a glimpse or sound of hubby running the lawn mower outside! And oh.. those evil toys my kiddos own-- especially that pink pool noodle!!

My quakers try to out noise the vacuum cleaner. They shout, talk and do what ever they can to be heard over the cleaner.

Our QP, too, is afraid of SOOOOO many things. The list would make too long of a post. Sometime birds get over some of these fears of objects, sometimes they do not. My Pop's Grey was terrified of my guitars when I was 13; by the time I was 18 or 19, she like me to come in and play for her. Just depends on the bird.
