Introducing Bogey!! I finally got my baby Quaker! Seems like I waited forever for him. biggrin.gif He's so sweet, and Cheri is an awesome breeder! I'm so glad I found her. She's just amazing. Bogey is so loving to all of us, and he's so wonderful! We drove almost 5 hours to get him, one way! Is that new record? LOL! laugh.gif

Hubby joked that we should name him Miles, since we traveled so far to get him! LOL! Actually, Bogey is short for Bogart, hubby's favorite actor. Humphrey Bogart had a huge personality but he was small in stature! I've heard the same thing about these little green guys!! And the name really suits him!! I had thought of that name months ago, and had forgotten it. Hubby had nixed that name because what bird could ever be great enough to be called Bogart?! *quietly laughing* wink.gif So, we had been tossing names around forever and none fit. Even during the whole drive to pick him up. So when we left Cheri's house, I asked hubby if he had a great name now that he actually met him... He said Bogey. Awwww! I guess he's impressed!! LOL! wub.gif

I'll do my best to attach a pic, but I have no idea how- so no promises! wacko.gif Sorry if they're fuzzy...

Thanks everyone! We're really loving him!! And thanks for the compliments on my girls, that's so sweet! wub.gif They've been waiting right along with me for months to get him, so they're thrilled that he's here. They knew we were getting a Quaker long before Bogey even hatched! LOL!

I am in the same boat, so to speak. I am getting a blue Quaker that is about 4 weeks old now. So I have been waiting 2 weeks already and now another ?? however many until he weans. I love to see how he changes each day. The breeder every so often updates the pictures. How old is your new Quaker? My husband and I haven't agreed on a name yet. I like Bogey.

How old were some of you all's Quakes when they were weaned? Just curious.......

I drove 4 hours one way, 8 hours roundtrip to get my first lovebird!

Bogey is 10 weeks old. He's weaned, and wasn't rushed at all. Cheri doesn't ever push them to wean, she does the abundance weaning. She explained that he was still getting one hand feeding a day - BUT - it's from a spoon! And each time I've offered it in the evening, he doesn't want it! He tastes it, maybe takes 3 bites, and that's it.

I got updates every couple of days & pictures! It made the waiting a bit more bearable! Cheri also gives the new parronts a small photo album of the baby they're taking home, as well as a notebook full of foods to give & avoid, tips, care & maintenance guidelines, first aid kit supplies list, etc. She gave me food to take with me, the baby formula he gets from the spoon, some corn & broccolli, and birdie bread! I didn't have to get anything extra right away.

She's just incredible. It's not about breeding and selling for her, she genuinely cares about the babies & who gets them. I had to pass quite an interview/test to be approved to get a baby from her! And I had done so much research on Quakers. I wouldn't have it any other way though, I know I have a special Quaker from a special breeder! He's even used to little ones because Cheri has a 4 yr old. It was a perfect fit for us! And I'm her biggest fan! laugh.gif

He was totally worth the drive! I'd do it again 10 times over! These guys just steal your heart! biggrin.gif
