I just wanted to share some pictures of my little sweetie, "Little Chicken"....

He has learned some new things recently.... he's been begging me to sing the Quaker song, and will sing along with me.

He also learned how to say "Okie Dokie" yesterday, so now my daughter's trying to get him to say "Okie Dokie Artichokie".

He has also been copying my laugh, my Cockatiels' mating song, and saying "ohhhhhh poor birdie" and "oh poor baby".... (I think he's trying to make me feel bad when he's in his cage and Im not holding him) :-(

Anyways, here's the pics of my cutie wub.gif

I also wanted to share that with the help of Carrie-Anne and Michelle (aka Animal Quackers), I was forwarded a link to a person close to me that has baby QP's ready to go in about 2 weeks. I've already contact them about reserving the last 2 babies left, and am sending my reservation deposit! I am sooooo excited! My daughter and I dont know what we'll name them until we get them, but we will definately keep everyone posted and will share pictures when we have them!!

Thanks so much for all the wonderful help, Michelle and Carrie-Anne!!!

I'm not sure..... I found Little Chicken at a local garden center that also carries a few parrots and small furry animals. They normally dont have Quakers, and said they rarely ever get any in and sell them. They werent able to give me any other info on him (or her) aside from that Little Chicken was about 4 mos. old when brought in, and was there for 8 mos. before coming to my "forever home".

To me, Little Chicken does have quite a bit of yellowish-brownish coloring on it's feathers, especially on the backs of it's wings and tail.... it's body feathers on it's lower tummy and legs are really lime green colored. Little Chicken is the first QP I had ever seen, and I've never seen another one in 'real life' so I cant make any comparisons, though.

He does look a little lighter, but it's kind of hard to tell with pictures, easier in person. smile.gif I believe there is a breeder on here, possibly Cheryl, that breeds Greens and Cinnamons, she might be able to tell. unsure.gif

Cute! wub.gif

Thanks for the compliments on Little Chicken.... He (or she) must know how cute he is, because he's got me trained very well, and knows how to push my buttons to get as many compliments as he can handle.

As for the QP breeder, I contacted all of them, and was torn between the one in Iowa and one of the ones in KC. My husband talked me into one in KC, though, because he's got to pick up some reptiles from a friend that lives there (my hubby breeds exotics reptiles and sells them) and he thought that we could make the trip and both be able to pick up our new babies rolleyes.gif

My daughter and I think we decided on names for the new babies already too..... she wants to name hers 'Kiwi' (yes, another Kiwi in the bunch!) and I am thinking of either Brussel Sprout (and calling it sprout for short) or else Avocado (because i could literally live eating only avocados for the rest of my life!).

Really, though, since we owe getting in contact with that breeder to the help of you and Michelle, we should probably name the two new babies after the both of you!! laugh.gif

Casey's Mom, Abbster, & IMPduJour...

I read Little Chicken all the wonderful compliments you posted, and all he could do was vigorously nod in agreement! He definatly isnt modest, that's for sure!! biggrin.gif

I like Brussel Sprout! smile.gif
Avocado would be ironic considering it's one of the foods that is poisonous to them! laugh.gif

Well your Little Chicken is just absolutely gorgeous! What a beauty! Those little quaker eyes say it all ...

LOL

Congrats on the other two coming your way, also! Keep the photos rolling in!

I know! It would be really demented and diabolical of me to name a QP that.... unsure.gif

Even though I like to eat avocados better then my other green veggies, I think I'm leaning towards naming the baby Brussel Sprout and calling it "sprout" or "little sprout"..... it just sounds so cute! wub.gif

Sprout sounds cute! laugh.gif

The pictures are so cute! Congratulations on the babies! I know you must be very excited!
Carrie~Anne
Ohhhh noooooo don't leave any naming up to me. I am horrible and very indecisive when it comes to naming birds (which is why I never change a rehomed bird's name laugh.gif ).

I do love the name Brussel Sprout though!!! Even Avocado is cute too!! You could call him 'cado for short wink.gif

Those are some beautiful pictures!
Thats neat you getting 2 young Qps
they will always be fast friends! laugh.gif

The Quaker Song is sung to the tune of I'm a Little Teapot

I'm a little Quaker
Green and stout
Open up my cage
And let me out
Better pick me up
Or else I'll squawk
Rub my tummy
And then I'll talk!
mommyslittlechicken
tongue.gif Yep, the Quaker Song is a huge hit at my house right now.... I think I have to sing it about 20 times a day it seems. It seems to really appeal to QP's.... I wonder if there's any Quaker that can resist it's charms biggrin.gif

I am very excited about the two babies.... they are siblings, so hopefully they will have no problems getting along well. They are just getting ready to wean, so it should be soon that I'll have my two new sweeties! I cant wait to see what cute little quirks and eccentricities they pick up.....

What a cutie smile.gif

looks like an angel hey! So cute. Mine have learned to say a fair bit and laugh but they don't have the quaker song yet!
