Welcome to the forum! As far as names go, it seems with me and my birds they seem to help me pick their name. I usually try to have a name in mind but it always seems that the bird itself either agrees or helps find its own name. They have their own personality and preferences which helps with names. I would recommend you wait until you get your baby and then the two of you decide on the perfect name! Also, check out lists online or books of baby names and their meanings. That is how I decided on my Quaker's name! He was a gift from some wonderful friends. I named him Taavi which is "dearly loved" in Hebrew. I gave him that name for two reasons. The first reason was HE WAS dearly loved and the second reason was that I felt so very loved by some wonderful people who will always hold a special place in my heart just like my Quaker, Taavi!

I picked Max because Quakers are tough little birds and Max, to me, is a tough name.

When I got my Chica, the prior abusive owners had not named her. They insisted it was a male bird and called it bird. They told me he was DNA sexed (they lied). I figured since QP's come from South America, he was a latino bird and small so I called "him" Chico for little boy. Imagine my surprise when my little boy laid "his" first ever egg, right in my hand. Since then, she has been Chica, my sweet little girl.

Wanted to welcome you to the forum. Morgan got his name because when we got him we didn't know if he was male or female and were looking for a name to fit either. Then there was that he was a parrot and pirates have parrots. Then at the time my son was doing a report on Captain Morgan the Pirate, so Morgan it was.

Hi and Welcome! All my birds came with their names already! I have Wasabi, Blue, and Fuzzi! Wasabi is my favorite but I can't take the credit for it!

Buttons was named for her penchant to systematically remove the buttons from my "bird" shirts. Also it seemed a pretty androgenous name until I could get her sexed.

Julia means youth and i think youth makes you think of young things like a baby quaker. We call her Julie or Julia.

Sometimes I like to get to know them a little before I name them, Angel was a baby 3 weeks old when I got him and my daughters favorite things to collect is frogs and angels so I named him Angel. My green cheek conure was named by my husband but I loved the name. He said he should be Shrek because he's a ugly green thing (his opinion but not mine). I loved the name Shrek so we took it. Rocky and Jacquee came with their names, though when I get Rocky DNA'd he may become Roxy.

Congrats on your new baby to be, why don't you wait until you meet him/her and the name might just come to you, that's what I do as personalities can make all the difference.

Oh and Welcome to the forum.

Hi
My green Quaker's name is Shrek... He says 'Hello Shrekie', and it just really suits him well.
My Sun Conure's name was Rambo... The second day I had him, I said 'Hi, Charlie'... Just came out of the blue, but his name is now Charlie.

We just waited, then she became "Libby". That is what we are going to do with our new bird, Personality as mentioned earlier can help determine a name. Already our new bird, at 8 weeks is noisier than Libby ever was even as an adult. So, the personalities may be very different. I typed "Cool parrot names" into Google and I didn't like any of them, so I have to wait I guess.

Welcome to the Forum!
There are so many names to go with. Some people like to watch the bird for a while to learn their personalities. I have four birds total and I started with my first two whose names are Skyy and Kiwi, so I decided to keep going with nature themed names. I got another parakeet and named him Limon, then I got my Quaker and named him LimeStone because he's Lime in color and the grey is the color of stone. Name him whatever you want thought. He's your baby.

Hi there,
Welcome to the forum! Our Little Green Monster is a rehome. He was an unmanageable little hooligan who bit everybody and tried to kill every partner that anyone tried to introduce to him. We are mostly African Grey people, so this little monster soon discovered that he couldn't be quite the bully that he used to be. After a year with us, he has turned into a cute, reasonably well-behaved little birdie, although he does still have some anger management problems!
He came to us with the name
Keiko, but as he is the smallest bird in our flock – the
Pocket Parrot – he soon got the name
Insect,

which seems to have stuck.

My QP that I rescued from the closet did not have a name and he is 18 months old my Mom named she kept calling him PeeWee so it just stuck with him and the other one we call Peanut cause he is so small and hubby called him Peanut one day so it stuck with him as well...we are assuming they both are males..but oh well if not..they r stuck with their names..lol..
