your bird is still adjusting to you and his new home/sounds/smells etc...it can be a stressful period for them. The best thing you can do right now is sit near his cage and talk to him and allow him to get used to you and your voice. You can also open his cage and see if he will come out for you etc. Gain his trust.
Eventually it all will fall into place.
Also I was wondering if you have taken him for his first avian vet check up yet?

Welcome to the forum:

My Chica screamed constantly when she was first with me. She had been abused and neglected and had been living with crack cocaine addicts so she was likely addicted from the fumes she breathed when they smoked their crack in the same room. mad.gif

I talked to her softly, sang to her, whispered to her and whistled to her a lot (still do) and before long she became the sweetest little companion imaginable. She says quite a few things now and while she will wolf whistle, I am not having a lot of success in trying to teach her to whistle Zip-a-dee-do-da. I'm sure I am expecting too much there. laugh.gif

Just use patience and talk to your bird softly and you will notice a big change before long.

I would call around because the prices do vary from vet to vet. Its good to find an avian vet as they are specialized in birds. Generally and this is just the rate I pay for a new bird exam including tests runs me about 89 dollars if I want dna its 20 more than that but most of the birds I get already have had a dna test. I also pay about 15 to get mine microchipped. If you want a vet to do wing and nail clips they tend to run about 10 for each one. I know how to do my own so I pass on that. Then annual check ups after the initial one tend to run me about 39 dollars a year. Its really advised to get the initial exam asap as then you know the health condition of the bird you are bringing into the home and also this puts the bird on the vets patient list so that in the event of an emergency the vet will be more inclined to take you in. Alot of times vets wont see new patients on an emergency basis and also you will get a great consulation with lots of information about diet nutrition etc.
I think alot of people hesitate bringing their fids to the vet because they fear the cost, calling ahead and finding their prices reduces the chance of getting shocked by a massive bill. Most of the time avian vets are not all that expensive but there are exceptions to that rule as I have seen some ppl charged extortionate prices.

A big welcome to the forum!!!

I agree with Impy, before figuring out the 'why' your bird is screaming, let him settle in first. Going to a totally new home can be very traumatic for a bird.

Do you have any idea if the bird screamed in his previous home?

I agree with everyone else, give him some more time to settle in to his new home. smile.gif
