Hello!

I have a possible weird behavior to share. I don't know if anyone else has had this happen with their Quaker or other types of birds. My husband one day had on a red baseball cap and he went up to Limestones cage and was saying goodbye and our bird started freaking out, Screaming and flying all over the cage. I told him to take off his cap and he calmed down. A while back he had on a black cap with red on it and he saw him from across the room and he started to get scared again. So we just thought it was the hat. But yesterday, my husband got me some roses and it had a red ribbon/bow on the vase and he flipped out again. So we have come to the conclusion that he is afraid of the color red that is a deep color red. Does anyone have any ideas????

It could be colors, the hat, new things or a multitude of combinations. Usually with my birds any new object is a threat to them so they need to get used to it.

My Quaker hates hats and she will bite anyone (even me) who is wearing a hat. She also has colours that she doesn't like too...red being one of them (thank heavens I don't own any thing red ).

Casey doesn't seem to be afraid of any particular colour, but I have heard that red is a popular one for them to be afraid of. It isn't uncommon for them to be afraid of hats as well. Seems normal, you'll just have to get used to what bothers him and what he is afraid of, because they will definitely let you know! The one thing that freaks Casey out more than anything is when someone is cutting the grass and they walk past the window, then she does like Limestone and screams and flys around and falls off her cage!

They are afraid of everything- bottles,tape measure, hands, noises, vaccumes, baby birds, outdoors at first, hats.I could go on for hours[literally i could]

The first bird i had used to bite me like crazy and lash out at me whenever i had this red nail polish on my nails. As soon as i took it off it would be ok and he would let me cuddle him. Weird!!

Amber hates when my husband wears hats, she only allows him to pet her and bites him if he has one on.

Poppy HATES red hates! If anything makes him nuts, it is a red hat.

That's funny that you bring up the baseball hat! I have a few that I wear. At first, Kiwi, seemed scared! But, he actually loves my hats, one is his all-time fav! He literally goes crazy, he likes to sit right under the visor part and talks, VERY loud. He enjoys pulling my hat off, and throws it. So, I will place both Kiwi and hat on the floor, he will stay entertained for as long as I let him. It's very cute!!

Kiwi, though is scared of most every thing until he gets "aquainted".
