Yesterday my oldest son was diagnosed with strep throat. The night before, I let him (he's 7) hold and pet Journey (who's getting very freindly and social!).
Today, Journey's poops looked a bit watery. I'm probably being paranoid...but Quakers can't catch human illnesses like Strep throat, can they??
I'm so anxious that she could have!

No, I am pretty sure Journey will be fine. Just make sure you wash your hands before feeding/holding him. I believe they can't catch human illnesses. smile.gif

It's great that he is getting really friendly and social! biggrin.gif

Others will be around with some more advice. smile.gif

THANK YOU!
I didn't think they were able to contract most illnesses from humans..but it would be my luck.

I don't think they can catch human illnesses, but you may want to call your avian vet and just ask to be sure...

sounds like Journey is doing great...
I hope your son feels better soon..Strep throat is so painful..I hope the rest of the family doesn't contract it...be sure he takes ALL his medication as strep can be very dangerous to the kidneys....and if anyone else in the family gets a sore throat be sure to be treated...

No birds can't get strep from humans...But I'd still practice good hygiene and make sure that the kids don't kiss the bird or let the bird pick at your teeth or inside of your mouth because they can get extremely sick for just normal bacteria that is in a human mouth...
