Tis the season, and last night there were professional grade fireworks going off in my neighborhood. I was already in bed, but boy was it loud. After a while, I came out and looked in on the birds and they were both wide eyed.
I haven't had any experience with this, but I know it used to terrify my dogs.
Are birds as scared? Is there anything that can be done? I tried not to react to it, but wow... it was shaking the windows.
Any suggestions?

FWIW, I don't know if you know what New Year's Eve is like in Amsterdam... (loud! véry loud)) but my birds seemed to ignore it (it must have puzzled them, no doubt about that, but no more than that, it seemed). First time it happened, I kept them "up", but they just wanted things to be as usual and wanted to "sleep", so the following New Years, I just covered the cage as normal.
Nancy and Bubba
Fireworks don't seem to bother Bubba either and they have started here in the neighborhood already. But they certainly do bother me laugh.gif
Dark Angel
My quaker is weird he always likes to have a view of the outside and he doesnt like to be covered. I think he loves watching the sunset and the sun rise and storms and fireworks dont seem to bother him. He just hates strangers and will alert me way before the dogs do because he seems to think he owns the land as far as his beady eyes can see.

On the other hand my big U2 is really terrified of thunderstorms alot of times when they start she will run to her cage and peak her head out so I only see her eyes. She will come to me and I hold her till it passes.
