Heike
For those of you who remember me and BEAR the Quaker, she passed this morning. We don't know why and since she was the only parrot we still owned, there won't be a necropsy. Last night she was setting her most recent clutch of (infertile) eggs, this morning she was gone.

Ten years is not long for a Quaker, but she exceeded by far the expectations of many - including some vets and experts - who thought she wouldn't see one year old because she was hatched without a breastbone.

Those of you who've met her or remember the many stories, anecdotes and pictures, please take a moment to say goodbye and wish her well across the rainbow bridge.

Thanks!

Heiki, I want to express my condolences also in the passing of Bear....It seems we just don't ever have enough time with them no matter how old they are when they pass away............

Wishing Bear well and fly free little one.....
Heike
I apologize, I didn't mean to come in as a stranger and down everyone's day.

Some eons ago (or so it seems) I was one of the original group that helped found QPS, and even before that I used to be one of the moderators on the quakerparrots mail list. I think Shelly still has some of my old articles up under "q-tips," or that's what they used to be called.

I thought some of the old group, the ones who had shared our trials, tribulations, and triumphs almost from the day we brought Bear home, and some of whom had actually met Bear in person, would still be around and might want to know. I have lost touch with all of them so this was the only way I could think of to possibly reach them.

Bear was our last bird so I won't be staying around to become a regular.

Thank you for the kind words and thoughts though. I appreciate them and I'm sure Bear does too.

Heike,
I'm so sorry. I remember you and Bear from the beginning of the QPS and the list. Thank you for letting us know. I know there are many people out there that know you from QPS and remember Bear. My heart and prayers go out to you at this time. I hope that you will keep in touch with the old QPS members. I will be praying that the pain of losing Bear will ease. Please keep in touch.

In any case, you are in my thoughts..It is so difficult to let our "loved ones" go...I missed Joy every day...
Hugs,
