My quaker really enjoys preening me. In fact, that's what she prefers to do 95% of the time she's with me. The problem is, she can get a little rough. A lot of the time, she gently nibbles and scratches and rubs her beak on me, but sometimes, she pinches skin or rapidly thrusts the tip of her beak downward across my skin. Is this normal? Is there a way to stop the behavior?

The only way to stop the behavior is not let her preen you. When they preen yout hair they sometimes do it hard and they will preen your skint he same way. Gizmo will only preen my hair and he used to preen my neck but i would would tap his taikl to go the other way.

Poppy used to do this obsessively, be he doesn't anymore. It was like getting a tattoo! I was happy it passed!
Maddie is starting it a little. I usually give her a 'quake' to distract her. It worked with Poppy. Good luck!

Well, my Kiwi (qp), loves to preen my eybrows and he constantly licks my skin. I thought maybe it was the lotion I used but when I go without lotion, he does all the same!! He only started this about a month ago. He also just turned 1, maybe this is all about age? It gets very annoying after awhile. Yep, about 95% of the time! The other 5% he eats!!

Well shoot mom, do you think it's easy to preen somebody who doesn't even have feathers?

When Max is preening too hard, I will say 'be nice' or 'no bite', and she stops. She seems to know when she's putting too much pressure on.

Thanks for all of the advice. I'm happy to know that Zayza is not the only one! And it's true, I don't have feathers, so what do I expect huh? Ha! I laughed when I read that QPdad!

Shah preens my eyebrows and skin. It can really hurt at times but I tend to put up with it as he enjoys it so much. If it gets too rough I tell him "be gentle" and he stops. And I can't get over how he has to preen every imperfection he finds on my skin.
