OKay, we have 3 birds.. Nibber the quaker, Diez the Female SI Ekkie, and Lucy the Umbrella Cockatoo. Nibbler is almost 2 years old and has only tried hello from time to time but has never mastered it. Diez says HELLO to the neighbor lady but not us. Lucy on the other hand...bless her..she talks from the minute I uncover her til about half an hour after I put her to bed. So if the other 2 didnt talk..I was all for it. well I come home after being gone all day yesterday, and im playing with nibbler, covering my face and then looking at him and all of a sudden without me saying anything he yells PEEKABO at me. I thought i was going to cry. Baby said his first word. We played for several minutes each time him belting out PEEKABOO. I was so proud and happy. Its not like I didnt have a bird that talked..but he is my favorite..the little booger. We played today and he cintues to say it. Meanwhile, my non chatty ekkie is starting to mimic the too's favorites phrases...I have nightmares of all my birds wanting to talk at the same time. I think I would go crazy if they all started acting like motor mouth Lucy. But all the same Im glad my little green monster spoke to me.

Wow!! That is awesome!!! I looooove hearing birds say Peekaboo!! It's one of my favorite phrases to hear.

Just you wait until they start talking back and forth to each other!!

Max and one of my male Cockatiels will have whistling duos. One will do a certain whistle and the other will answer back. Then they will continue to do that making up new whistles as they go and they'll try to copy each other.

Then Max and Chi Chi, my Green Cheek, will have occasional conversations. One of my favorites is when I walk through the door. I get a big 'hello!' from Max and Chi Chi will go 'shhhhhh be quiet!'. Of course, Max just repeats 'hello' but MUCH louder

Thats verry happy news!!! i hope one day my baby talk too its so nice!!

Good boy Nibbers.....

Yea....Peek a boo (Peekaboo?) Maxie would belt out "peek" then some time down the road we made it to "Peek A" He just never could get that "Boo" out. Then one day, to my surprise, it just came out. It is so funny when he gets into one of those modes when he just starts talking, he will go from one word to another, and someewhere mixed in, in no particular order, ya here it. "Peek a boo."
