When I got Journey last week (age unknown), she was living in an aquarium woth lots of other birds. She couldn't perch for long, so she was being kept in a plastic bin for warmth and so she didn't have to sit on a perch.
Well, she is now getting out of the bin on her own. She is getting better at perching, but can't do it all day. Still handfeeding. She seems to hate being in the bin. What should I do as far as housing? Will she be warm enough in a cage? She is almost fully feathered now., but does still have some down shoing through, and likes to sleep on the ground all snuggled up.

i know the the breeder i got cricket from kept her weaning babies in a parakeet cage with a perch close to the bottom of the cage and one a little higher for when he was ready to start climbing. you can always keep a town or blanket around 3 sides of the cage for warmth.

journey is absolutely adorable!!

I did keep mine in the tub covered with a towel until they were fully feathered but you can put your baby in a cage during the day with sides and back covered with a towel and at night if you are worried about your baby getting cold (that would be me) put him/her back in the tub for the nite sleep.. If he is getting out what I did was took the bottom rack from the cage and put it on the tub and put cloths pins on the side with the with the towel on it so they could not get out.. LOL
