I was wondering, is there a good way to make your bird more confident?

Hanzo, I can tell, is a very shy bird. He is really comfortable with people but with other things he is so scared of them. He's look at them, he saw that they don't do anything, but he still can't stand to go near it.

Is there a way to show that these things won't mean any harm?

Hi Azale well QPs are generally always scared of new things like Whoa! whats that!?? But they will and do get used to new things. I guess Id have to say with alot of love and good handeling and food needs met they develop a good sense of well being (confidence) Some Qps think this or that are big bad things lol but in time theyre fine Id say with most items. How old is your QP?

Just fimilarize them stick certain items around them that they need or you want them to get used to...

I have another question.

I think the main idea of my posting was, I found Hanzo doesn't like to play with any toys because he seems afraid of them all! I've tried all different kinds of toys, but all he likes is to just sit and perch. I want to try to enrich his life as much as possible.
So is there a way to kind of 'teach' your QP to play? Or do you think, eventually, he'll learn to play with his toys on his own?

hi azale, i'm kinda having the same "problem" with cricket (who is almost 6 months old). he'd rather just sit by me than play with any toy.

i did find one toy that he likes. its a cheap toy... plastic beads with some wood pieces. he's learned he likes to chew on wood. he keeps breaking the string and then bites thru where i tied a knot. other than that toy he doesn't play. he just sits on a perch and looks outside.

when i have him out i try to play with something but not offer it to him. he gets curious as to what i'm doing and will try to take it away from me. i use a plastic pepsi cap and also a wooden popsicle stick since he likes to chew.

i'm sure hanzo will start playing more soon!
