you called him "Cutie Pie" that's so funny. My parakeet's name is Cutie Pie. I'm leaning towards Sweet Pea. My son suggested, "Sprout" from the Jolly Green Giant.

From the looks of things, it appears that he is with a breeder or in some type of commercial setting. Great he is starting to eat. BUT, NOW is the time to wean him to PELLETS. Pick your brand. Zupreem is the most readily available....and they are good. I use Roudybush and they are not AS readily available but the mini is the one Maxie eats completely and cleanly.

Now is the time....right now.... it will never get easier to wean him to pellets than now. Sure you can give him seeds as a treat. Now assuming he is coming home to you soon, you can start mixing in some fresh fruit and veggies, but if he is eating the pellets, they are of less significant. ( I did not say NOT significant) I said less. Bottom line: %80-85 of your birds diet should be pellets. That comes right out of Bird Talk magazine, not my fingers. Many disagree. Some say no more than 50. I do 80. Dr Roudybush, the manufacturer of Roudybush pellets, still had all his tiels alive. That's all they eat and they are in year 23 plus.
