My QP Benny is still at the store being weened. wub.gif I thought He would like another toy, so I cought him this wood star with little beaded dangly leather things on the points. tongue.gif

He kept looking at it funny, I was in the back room with him, and when I picked it up to let him have a better look (Which I did slowly as to not startle him) He flew off (Clipped wings and all) and landed off the table a few feet away. dry.gif

He only had one small toy, until I got him that one. huh.gif

This is pretty normal. I know whenever I introduce a new toy to Max, she'll get scared sometimes. I mean, they don't instantly know it's a toy. It could be some big, scary thing ready to eat them laugh.gif laugh.gif

I usually put the new toy on her play stand before putting it in her cage. This way she can explore it on her own smile.gif

i know it takes cricket awhile before he'll accept a new toy in this cage.

as a matter of fact, just today i added a thick piece of braided rope (from another toy) and hung it from his cage. its something he's seen before but not as a toy. he used to use it as a perch. i thought maybe he'd like to chew on it since thats all he seems to be doing lately.

i put it in the cage with him about an hour ago and he's clinging to the side of the cage afraid of it. i'll keep it up there awhile longer before i decide to take him out of the cage for awhile and put him back in hoping he accepts the new toy or take the toy out all together.

hopefully your baby will adjust and start playing with his new toy!

I'll tell you this, don't be offended if you buy your baby toys that he never plays with. Mine does the same thing as yours and the others that replied have said. Sometimes he warms up to a toy and destroys it while others he simply never does.

Problem solved.

My mom and I were deciding between a few birds. We're getting the blue crown conure (but benny is at a very good place, and will def. end up in a good home!)

It was a hard decision, but I feel, a good one.

Kris---I saw you made reference that Cricket was chewing and thought I would offer my advice to get him a dispenser that holds adding machine paper and let him chew away..He will certainly have a blast....You just hang it up in his cage where he spends most of his time...Harley enjoys his a lot....Just thought I would mention it to you.... smile.gif

That's what my birdies breeder said to get. she said they all really love it!

She also said her mom takes chunks of phone book, drills a hole in the top, hangs leather and beads and stuff off it, and they love that, too!
