A few minutes ago I picket Wicket up from her cage and she regurgitated some of the green bean she had been eating.
She has never done this before while I was holding her. I really did not think she was that attached to me. Wicket did swallow the piece she brought up if that means anything.
Quackers was very bonded to me and never regurged his food. So this is new to me.
Do they do this to also re-chew their food too?

I don't think so~!!! My quaker does not do this but my african grey would do it for my husband and it's only when he is giving her attention and she gets excited~! He thinks it's gross but I think it's funny~!
I think it's only a sign of affection~!

No if they are rechewing and swallowing it may mean a yeast infection. My Topaz is doing that right now. I just went and got some medication for it from the vet.
When they feed you they don't re chew it they well just plop it on you if you dont move fast enough.
My Joey well feed me.
So you might want to take your bird to an avain vet and get a check up.

True regurgitation with the intent to "feed" you is probably the highest compliment a bird can give you...However its also showing you that they consider you their mate. Its not necessarily the type of BOND you want to have with your bird. It doesn't seem as bad with a small bird as it can be with a large bird because when they actually try to force it into your mouth it can be pretty bad. Thus, none of my big birds get to sit on shoulders. Birds that regurge don't normally re-chew it, they may swallow it again but they don't re chew. Its not like a cow or sheep or kangaroo that has a cud that they chew on through out the day. So if your bird is regurging a lot and acting as though hes chewing it, you should think about getting him to the vet and discussing yeast infections in the crop...

My QP when he gets really excited he starts to regurgatate for my husband...hes so in love with my man...lol I always sing..."peanut butter" hee. He never gets it up tho he just kind of starts the motion. Its just the hightest form of affection a QP can give the person it loves.

Thank you all so much for your replies. After reading them I realized I may have left something out. So here it is.
Wicket had been eating a fresh green bean. What was reguritated was the little bean found inside the green bean.
Wicket has been moving his head up and down followed by some sounds which I believe means she is excited.
When my doves feed their babies you can tell their head bob is with a purpose. When Wicket does her head bob, it is fast and she will usually stretch her neck out and make a series of sounds.
Hope I have not totally confused any one.
With yeast infections in the crop, will they reguritate more than once? Can someone explain all the systoms consistant with yeast infection?
Thanks so much,
Donna07

With Topaz s/he well bring up a little food after I stop handfeeding here and "chew" on it. Like it had lumps or something. S/he does not do this ever feeding but it is very noticable and the vet said she had a yeast infection.

Kermit goes through the motions, the head bobbing thing and everything when I am playing with him or holding him. He never actually coughs anything off because I usually stop him by picking him up and stopping the playing. It usually happens most often during his spring hormonal period which is finally coming to an end...thank goodness!
