thank you jobo2 for the link to bird on the rocks. I finally got one and it looks like Dobby used it last night to sleep on. there is poop on the very edge of it so either he pooped on it and then ignored it or he decided it was a great resting place.
I think I'll know more tonight. I'll judge it by the size of the pile of poop in that area. I've got it right next to his spot where he sleeps. It's in the highest place in his cage. Eventually I want to get him a bigger cage but since he only uses it at night, this set up seems to be working nicely.

He'll LOVE his rock perches...I gotta get a few more!

Yep, it's definitely one that I want to purchase for each of the cages. I've heard nothing but great things about this product.
birdbluff
I was surprised at how heavy it was. It definitely added some weight to the cage so you may want to keep that in mind. I'm used to moving his cage around a lot. I still can I just have to pick it up from the bottom instead of the handle.

Yay! Another satisfied customer. John is so good in his dealings with his customers. I don't think there is a comparable product out there. Just an innovative use for a common item. And you never have to worry about them wearing out or needing replacing.

They've been a huge hit with our flock.

Next I want to get one of the flagstone swings.

this is wierd. I came home from work tonight and checked on Dobby to see if he was using the new rock. He's on his perch and his tail is on the rock???
Gosh I hope I didn't go buy another gadget that he's not going to use. tongue.gif
come on, dobby!!!
When I first bought his happy hut I had to work late unexpectedly so I didn't cover his cage before leaving and this was winter.
When I came home, I couldn't see him till he walked out of the happy hut. I was so excited that he used it, I praised and praised him. He never used it again. It's like as soon as he does something that makes me happy, he stops doing it.
I'm trying very hard not to make a big deal out of the new rock.
Carrie~Anne
Can you put a treat on it? So he'll at least attempt to go on it?
birdbluff
that's an idea! something that won't roll off

No problem! they've got a chart on their site that lists each and every bird and the recommended size. If your bird is not listed, there is a contact email where you can ask them.

It took mine a few days to accept the rock perches and now mine has one for sleeping and another where he likes to take his treats and dine etc....I personally think they do a better job in keeping the nails and beaks trimmed than the perches that are sold and marketed to do the job.

The only fid I have that refuses to use one is my U2.
birdbluff
Wow! that's great. I didn't think about the nails.
I'm going to put some millet right by the rock tonight so he has to stand on the rock to get to it.
He hasn't shown any dislike to the new shelf and I put it in his cage in front of him. He did not object at all so I'll wait and see what happens tonight.

Wayyy cool! I just ordered corner ones for Kiwi and Daisy. Thanks again for sharing.

What size rock did you get for each bird and is that the size that best fit them or do you wish you had gotten a diff size?
Uncle Zippy
If I remember correctly I initially ordered a small and a medium. I quickly realized the small was way too small. That one wound up in our Parrotlet's cage. The medium went to Loco out GCC, I reordered the large for Maya the Qp and Buddy the Senegal, and an extra large for Tiko our Grey.

The corner perches look pretty neat too, but you can easily place any of them in such a way as to work in a corner.

Funny thing, I just did a quick search on Yahoo for birdontherocks and the #3 listing was from QP.com, with the title "Maya's New Perch". My post! laugh.gif

Bravo to Maya---a celebrity indeed.....I can't find the exact posting...Give it to us Uncle Zippy...... smile.gif Thanks...........
