Full Version: I Hope I'm Paranoid... But Red Is Doing Something...

Reds Parront
Okay, I noticed Red doing this yesterday, and she did it again today, and I hope I can explain this, cause it's really weird looking when she does it.

She lifts up her wing, and looks like she's attacking it, but she doesn't actually bite at it or anything, she just shoves her head at it, and she makes a series of loud short chirps while she's doing it. Yesterday, she only did one wing, but today she did both of them, one after the other.

It reminded me of when I have an itch in the middle of my back, and I take something and "bat at it", instead of actually itching it... if that makes any sense at all.

I don't know how else to explain it. I'm hoping that she's just playing around, because she hasn't had any other weird behaviors, just that. Figured I'd ask, in case someone here has maybe seen their QP do the same thing?

Thanks a bunch!

I think it is just a weird behavior. I would not go to the vet if that's all she's doing. It is not a good habit to go to the vetr for every little thing. Like us going to the doctor for every headache and soreness. Unless he is harming himself i think u are ok

Although it sounds strange, she may be displaying some hormonal behavior. My QP puffs up, stretches one leg backwards and backs up to a hanging toy. Looks weird, but he's basically getting his jollies laugh.gif

As long as she's not picking or plucking under there, she's just being weird!! Aren't they all????!!! blink.gif

My Quaker has done the same thing since we got her nine months ago. She seems to bite under her wing and chirp. She gets to going and one leg goes up and down as if she is dancing. I was alarmed at first but it seems to be harmless. She does all sorts of weird things and seems to change her patterns from time to time.

YUP - sounds harmless if she's not plucking or biting herself. Our QP does some wierd stuff too, just being a Quaker. smile.gif

I'm so glad! It doesn't seem like she's doing anything else, and she's not plucking or anything, and it doesn't seem like she's in pain. Just trying to give her momma a heart attack, I suppose, lol.

Yogi does this quick chattering/chirping when he preens his wings.

It took a day or two before I realized he was practicing his talking wacko.gif

Glad I heard his babbling under the wing, as I was getting ready to call the vet.

I completely sympathize with the paranoid parront syndrome laugh.gif

I'm sure the vet does the whole eye-rolling/not her again thing when I call blush.gif

Better safe than sorry though right??? right??? lol

gee.. I love my fids. I'd like to think that someday I won't be freaking out over the new wierd sound they've come up with, or odd behaviour they do that is oh so amusing to them, and oh so scary to me hahahahahaahha
